teeluu Posted June 26, 2006 Report Posted June 26, 2006 You could still take that watermark off, can't see much the texture itself behind it. Those gaps between the stones should be a little darker. That one dark part probably comes up too much, keep it going. Quote
hessi Posted June 26, 2006 Report Posted June 26, 2006 csharp those cloud rendered stone materials usually blow :X work with photos please. using such rendering textures it is realy annoying to see that your structure of the stone isn't in a context to its neighbors. that means: i can see that you just overlayed some colors and shadows. the structure is simply a tiling texture where borderes between stone parts are losing themself due to these blendet structures. take these references as a free gift to retry with a good photo as reference http://www.thomashess.net/IMG_8045.JPG http://www.thomashess.net/IMG_8083.JPG Quote

Zeta Posted July 2, 2006 Report Posted July 2, 2006 First stab at texturing (thanks again for the videos vivi) They all tile well on topic-ish: Anyone know why I can't create/save to vtf. format using the photoshop vtf plugin unless the texture is 8 bits in colour? Any higher and it gives an error message instructing me to use 8 bit colour :{ ps cs2 btw Quote
PhilipK Posted July 2, 2006 Report Posted July 2, 2006 Nice ones. I like the bottom right one most I think. I made a worn floor texture. Very simple shit tho and only diffuse :-| Quote

Minos Posted July 3, 2006 Report Posted July 3, 2006 Blaz is my personal hero no joking @vivi ~ That's some tight stuff as well. Quote
Squirrelly Posted July 3, 2006 Report Posted July 3, 2006 I hate being the one saying it, but I personally don't like that Blaz. The edges don't seem natural to me, and the grime just doesn't "flow" well with the rest of the texture, as some of it looks like cobwebs of some sort. The darkness between the tiles is too much as well. I feel as if those areas simply go on forever. Fill it in with something, perhaps some grout (highly damaged), with areas of grass breaking through here and there. There are areas that are overly sharp, AND areas that are overly blurry. Would you mind posting the references you used? Quote
PhilipK Posted July 3, 2006 Report Posted July 3, 2006 well cant please everyone and im not too keen on it either. most things you mentioned makes sense. didnt spend a lifetime on it either so. also it's just a diffuse so not much to comment on ill try better next time tho Here's the ref photo btw: http://philipk.net/other/ref.jpg Quote
