Nysuatro Posted May 3, 2006 Report Posted May 3, 2006 Hey all I wanted to make a sand wall. And i hope i did it. I want to know what you all think about it. I am going to experiment wit this one. Make new texture from it. So i will use this textures as base. Quote
PhilipK Posted May 3, 2006 Report Posted May 3, 2006 Ah that is looking great nys. Looks like you've improved a lot really. I dig the colour and texture of it. The bottom is also nice. If anything it'd be cool to see some more detail variation in it. But I guess this one would tile very well instead tho GJ anyway. Here are a few more of the q4 set im doing (one panel is older and one bottom is cut in half and used over to show how u CAN use them as well with cutting and yes I know q4 has those super fancy highres moving screens. But I'm making these old skewl (mostly because I have no idea how I would go ahead and create one of those q4 displays )) Quote
KungFuSquirrel Posted May 3, 2006 Report Posted May 3, 2006 Fan-freaking-tastic. You're actually doing well by not using the gui system. Those things get crazy expensive (like, a draw call per text letter in some cases) if you're not careful. Someone can always just add their own gui func_static down the road later if they really need it. I'm really itching to use this set... Quote
Phatsniper Posted May 3, 2006 Report Posted May 3, 2006 Outstanding work Philip! I think I'm actually going to rework my current level to make use of your textures when you release them, they'd fit perfectly. I agree about the GUIs too, I remember the shock I had the first time I looked at one in wireframe :E Keep it up dude! Quote
Squirrelly Posted May 3, 2006 Report Posted May 3, 2006 @ PhillipK: Loving it! Great work! @ Nys: You are really improving man. I can see quite a bit of repetitiveness, however. Try and cover up those "blemishes" with brushing and whatnot. Otherwise, looks like a solid texture. Quote
PhilipK Posted May 3, 2006 Report Posted May 3, 2006 woah thx hoping to get it done sometime too. Quote
csharp Posted May 3, 2006 Report Posted May 3, 2006 PhilipK What maps have you used there? only normal? dude your textures rock Quote
PhilipK Posted May 4, 2006 Report Posted May 4, 2006 thx csharp. in that pic ive used diffuse, normal and specular maps and for the ones with screens also an illumination map. Quote
Polaris Posted May 4, 2006 Report Posted May 4, 2006 omai, I'm loving the gui set beside the blue panel, and the panels themselves look great, though imo they could use the white bits that the green panels have. If only I mapped for the D3 engine. btw, it would be cool if you went back and added smilar color schemes to http://philipk.net/other/q4_set_new_5.jpg Quote
teeluu Posted May 4, 2006 Report Posted May 4, 2006 Nysuatro: You're really improving your skills, alot. Only thing what bothers me is that it looks like you've used pretty much clone stamp tool, or at least it repeats maybe a bit too much, otherwise it looks great Philip, you're the coolness itself! Quote
PhilipK Posted May 4, 2006 Report Posted May 4, 2006 polaris dont worry about the colour i noticed i for some reason used a little yellowish light for most of the previous pics... so the color of them were not really what they really look like so to speak Quote
Spellbinder Posted May 4, 2006 Report Posted May 4, 2006 Would you consider to give birth to our children Philip? <3 U! [edit]Omg that was wired! I meant to compliment you for the texture, rofl.[/edit] And Nys thats great! If your not old in texture world it doesn't show for me. But then again i can't even get started. I don't have a clue on how to begin yet Great work dude keep at it! Spellbinder. Quote
Nysuatro Posted May 4, 2006 Report Posted May 4, 2006 Wauw thank you very much for all the comments. It feels great to hear such comments. @Swifty : You can be right. But could you sign the reapeating parts on the texture for me ? Because i am not 100% sure what you mean. Thank you Quote
