Grinwhrl Posted April 10, 2006 Report Posted April 10, 2006 I haven't created any textures in a long while so go easy on me I did this tonight. Each piece fits together. After looking at it for a bit, I may add more knicks to the the right and left walls of the door as well. Normal Normal Normal Quote
Grinwhrl Posted April 11, 2006 Report Posted April 11, 2006 Heres another new one I made tonight. Quote
Skjalg Posted April 12, 2006 Report Posted April 12, 2006 Why isnt the lock on the first (white stuff) textures normalmapped? Other than that, it looks fine to me... On the last texture here though, the trim (wood) around the door looks a little bit too... straight... I dont really know how to explain it more, but it doesnt fit very well for me Keep up the good work though, I wish I had your skills Quote
Grinwhrl Posted April 12, 2006 Report Posted April 12, 2006 That wood frame was from a real door from an old house. The door was from another old house. The texture wil be used for an old house, was thinking something like what you seen in Saw 2. About the normalmap, i was told if it were not flat it may look funny ingame, but i will play with it in game and see. Thanks for the crits Quote
Nysuatro Posted April 12, 2006 Report Posted April 12, 2006 I think making a set of this. Could you guys give me some advice pleas. Quote
The Postman Posted April 12, 2006 Report Posted April 12, 2006 Good textures, Dark, but don't use normal maps like that. For what you're doing you'll want to be using height maps. Trust me, you'll get crisper edges and a less "plastic" ingame appearance. Quote
dc-mike Posted April 12, 2006 Report Posted April 12, 2006 go easy on me, im a nub Im aware of the repetitiveness in the trim and base wall, im using the gimp so theres only so much i can do (that im aware of anyhow) and yes, its edited mayang stuff.. Quote

Squirrelly Posted April 12, 2006 Report Posted April 12, 2006 There is just something about it I don't like :\. Perhaps it doesn't have enough definition? Actually, I think it just lacks the proper contrast. Quote
st0lve Posted April 13, 2006 Report Posted April 13, 2006 Yeah, there is a reason why it never moved out of my WIP folder. Quote
Quakis Posted April 13, 2006 Report Posted April 13, 2006 Practising to work on textures again - although suggestions are very welcome since I really like to improve. Quote
Minos Posted April 13, 2006 Report Posted April 13, 2006 humm you should get rid of all lighting when making textures. You can try this technique, it works sometimes: http://www.gamasutra.com/features/20010523/hajba_01.htm Quote
