Minos Posted September 6, 2005 Report Posted September 6, 2005 The shading should be done in the normal map ;o Quote
kleinluka Posted September 6, 2005 Report Posted September 6, 2005 duh this is not a MAKE A NEXT GEN SHADER thread... its a MAKE A TEXTURE thread. so no, shading shouldnt be done in normal map. looking good spacer =)~ Quote
KoKo5oVaR Posted September 6, 2005 Report Posted September 6, 2005 noice spacer, but perhaps this texture will need some "noisy crap" Quote
Zyn Posted September 6, 2005 Report Posted September 6, 2005 - Created from a photo I took once :/ (please don't kill me!) Quote
h2 Posted September 6, 2005 Report Posted September 6, 2005 It would look pretty cool if it was less sharp. I'd think about replacing those black vertical lines with thin lines of cement. Quote
von*ferret Posted September 7, 2005 Report Posted September 7, 2005 I find that if you make a tilable image and "soft light" it with a soft opacity than you can get some color variance without having to paint it. I had this awesome moss picture that worked swell for it. Quote
Minos Posted September 7, 2005 Report Posted September 7, 2005 Ok, I wanted to create some dod'ish walls but I ran out of ideas as soon as I fired up photoshop :/ TBQH I'm pretty tired at the moment, almost falling asleep on this pc so I'd better go to bed. Anyways, any ideas on how to make them look better ? Quote
kleinluka Posted September 7, 2005 Report Posted September 7, 2005 yeah dont just fade the paper and stone.... add places where the paper curls off. Also don't make the trims as contrasty. Make sure everything has a similar level of contrast. Quote
DaanO Posted September 7, 2005 Report Posted September 7, 2005 The combination of colors in the first version drives me mad. They hurt my eyes really. They're good colors but don't combine well. I guess that with some really subtle changes it could work already. It's as if the colors are too similar or something. I agree with what Klein said. The first version could use some random elements as well, it's just too perfect. Quote
mike-0 Posted September 8, 2005 Report Posted September 8, 2005 DONT LAUGH. this is one of my first non-photosource texture attempts. This is not only me learning how to add custom content to hl2, but also me trying to get serious when it comes to texturing. I got the rust down (kind of, its a little pink i think). I was wondering how you add paper / paint peeling, so if you know, tell me or link me a tutorial. Quote
jayrabbit Posted September 8, 2005 Report Posted September 8, 2005 Post the texture. I see nothing on this little screenie Quote
