Neil Squibb Posted July 19, 2008 Report Posted July 19, 2008 I've voted for Portal but the other options seem good too. Quote
Jenn0_Bing Posted July 19, 2008 Report Posted July 19, 2008 I voted for noncommercial mods, id love to see some extra support for some of the good HL2 mods. It might also be the kick up the arse i need to make a map, there's been a few mods ive thought of making a map for but never had the motivation. Quote

PogoP Posted July 19, 2008 Report Posted July 19, 2008 I voted for Portal but yeah, it'd be cool to support some of the mods out there, such as Insurgency/Eternal Silence. Never played ES but I'd love to try making a map for it one day. Quote

But for a single mod like ES there is only 1 source game needed (the Source SDK Base). Quote

mjens Posted July 20, 2008 Report Posted July 20, 2008 As I allways said (and I'm not alone in my opinions) VHE sux, it crashes a lot, configuring that shit with non-EP1 HL2 is a big fake. I'm looking forward to have a contest with next-gen engine with producers support. It might be UE3, CryEngine2, ChromeEn... But we are lazy and like the old and known engines even if a lot of people form that forums says that valve sux, steam sux etc. Move your asses, you're sitting still in 2004, time to make something up to date... But we are lazy and like the old and known engines even if a lot of people form that forums says that valve sux, steam sux etc. Move your asses, you're sitting still in 2004, time to make something up to date... - Dude no offense! The first Chrome Engine game based, Chrome, was released in October 2003! The whole Chrome Engine licensed games are epic fail: [*:buxv8wpa] Chrome [*:buxv8wpa]Chrome Specforces [*:buxv8wpa] Terrorist Takedown : Payback [*:buxv8wpa] Call of Juarez [*:buxv8wpa] Battlestrike : Secret Weapons [*:buxv8wpa] ... Tell me why do you want us to create custom assets for this Engine? You can't compare a Public SDK with your tools @ work whereas you can compare two developers working in progress... To go back on thread, I think we could make a contest for both games (Portal and Non Commercial Mods)! Quote
mjens Posted July 20, 2008 Report Posted July 20, 2008 Chrome, Chrome: Specforce - 2003, CE2 Call of Juarez - 2004, CE2 (PC), 2005, CE3 (X360) Battlestrike and Terrorist Takedown was made by City Int. and these games are made on Jupiter EX (F.E.A.R.) engine. That DI screenshot is old, I see a big differences between those screens but (thank God) I'm not included in this project but it's still Tell me why do you want us to create custom assets for this Engine? You don't have to if you don't want to... But why are you talking about "epic fails" looking on screenshots? You even don't know that Terrorist T. was on Jupiter EX... Now tell me why not? Quote
Seldoon182 Posted July 20, 2008 Report Posted July 20, 2008 Now tell me... - Quite simple: A tone of Next-gen features useless because the devs has forgotten to optimize its. When we talk about Mapping, we talk about Level-Design, and when we talk about Level-Design, we talk about Gameplay which is non-existent because of the framerate... So.. ..."why not"? - More quite simple: I don't want to learn a engine or even theirs owners don't know how to use its... Btw, Call of Juarez was in my "Favorites upcoming title list" with those impressive screenshots! Screenshot were hot but finally the game was bad! Consequently, even Call of Juarez was a epic fail. Remind you the "stupid French" who downloaded the game by P2P: Ppl wanted to play it without the aim to buy the game. Quote
⌐■_■ Posted July 20, 2008 Author Report Posted July 20, 2008 you guys might want to discuss this issue in another thread instead of hijacking this one, since this option is out of the question (plus im sure people would like to see a contest between now and 2009). also, Seir, mapcore has collectively chosen for the source engine, accept it or move along.. Quote
⌐■_■ Posted July 22, 2008 Author Report Posted July 22, 2008 allright. the option ''no specific game or mod (within the source engine)'' seems to have the majority of the votes. its now up to us to give it shape. the first question wich pops into my mind is ''what theme will it be?'' and ''to wich rules will the contestants have to apply?''. my idea is to gather all the input in this thread, and to create a FINAL poll wherein i (or whoever creates the poll first) will put our input in.
