-HP- Posted September 22, 2008 Report Posted September 22, 2008 Woa, that's a huge delay... damn... Quote
Taylor Posted September 22, 2008 Report Posted September 22, 2008 PS3 version won't be region locked, but I have no burning desire to import atm. Quote
-HP- Posted September 22, 2008 Report Posted September 22, 2008 Playstation3 itself don't have region lock. Quote

Taylor Posted September 22, 2008 Report Posted September 22, 2008 ":3vk1m3fl]Playstation3 itself don't have region lock. It does, if you try to play a foreign movie or PSX/PS2 game it won’t let you. It's just most games don’t bother with it. The 360 is largely the same but has some seemingly-arbitrary exceptions importing from the US and, most annoyingly, all Japanese games are region-locked (so I need to buy a JP 360 for Ketsui and Death Smiles, awesome). -HP- Posted September 22, 2008 Report Posted September 22, 2008 North America and Japan use NTSC television standards, or 480i, while Europe uses PAL standards, or 576i. Hence, the US PS3 isn't configured to handle the extra 96 lines of imaging. The solution is simple but costly: all PS3 titles support 720p, so buy an HDTV set. You are not getting your money worth out of a PS3 if you don't own a HD TV anyway. I always heard PS3 is region free, and I never heard otherwise. I tried to google for it, and It is indeed, region free. You can play NTSC games on PAL, and vice versa as it appears. not like I give a fuck anyways, I always play PAL stuff! Quote
Erratic Posted September 22, 2008 Report Posted September 22, 2008 Could have sworn there were a few games floating around that were locked. Quote
Taylor Posted September 23, 2008 Report Posted September 23, 2008 I don't get the relevance of the HDTV comment. The PS3 is region locked. PS3 games don’t have a region on them (but theoretically could). If you put something with a different region in it will reject it. Quote
D3ads Posted September 23, 2008 Author Report Posted September 23, 2008 It's a respresentation of Jame's sexual frust.... oh wait, wrong game  Quote

D3ads Posted September 26, 2008 Author Report Posted September 26, 2008 Apparently Homecoming is on target for November in the EU after all, and the Feburary date applies to Germany only. Also it appears that the game has been banned in Australia, so no Yahzee review http://www.classification.gov.au/specia ... ord=229643 Quote
dux Posted September 26, 2008 Report Posted September 26, 2008 lol Australia sucks for games. Idiot ratings there. Quote
D3ads Posted September 26, 2008 Author Report Posted September 26, 2008 Here's why it's been refused classification: Games On Net has released information from the Board's report on Silent Hill: Homecoming, explaining why the game has been refused classification. Please be aware that the following information may contain spoilers for the game. According the report, the game has been refused classification due to several scenes of violence and gore, including decapitations, blood sprays, dismembered corpses and several scenes involving drills, including one where "an electric drill is explicitly forced through Alex's right eye socket, remaining there for an extended period as Alex screams and blood sprays from the wound." There is also a scene where "Alex encounters a creature with a human body shape and a long, barbed, spade-shaped head. Using his head as a weapon, the creature explicitly bisects Alex, the two parts of the body lying separately on the ground, with copious blood spray." All of this basically boils down to the conclusion that, "the Board considers that the cumulative effect of this type of violence is high and as such cannot be accommodated at the MA 15+ classification.
