I'm looking more forward to Siren for PS3 than another Silent Hill game at this point.

Agreed, that game looks fucking sick. I watched gameplay videos of the original Siren games recently, man I wish they were on PC :( Hopefully Siren will get a PC release this time around.

I doubt it’ll get a PC release as it’s an episodic release for Playstation Network and, I think, developed by JapanStuido that are tied to Sony. I played the Siren demo off the Japanese PS3 store and I think it’s fair to say it’s far from being the new Silent Hill. It’s pretty solid as far as downloadable games go, though.

Silent Hill 2 came out on PC as well, but it was a much lesser experience. All the secrets were unlocked on the first play-through so I entered Silent Hill decked out with a chainsaw, and they put in a quickload/quicksave function (PC compulsory!) that destroyed all the tension because you were never, ever at risk. :/

The PC release of SH2 (Sh3 and 4 got one, too) wasn't worse than the PS2 release. The chainsaw starting unlocked thing was a bug that happened for some people, and the quicksave was optional and didn't have any effect on the game. Save spots were frequent as hell in SH2, and it wasn't at all difficult.

SH3 and 4 didn't get the quicksave and was feature-wise completely identical to the console versions.

Nobody playing the PC version would have avoided using quicksave. The problem is not that it makes the game easier, though you can't really judge the difficulty of something until after, it's that it ruins the suspense and tension: Investigating a noise or heading into some foreboding room is a lot different when you have something to lose, even if ultimately any encounter is weaksauce.

Wut? I played it on PC and didn't use quicksave.

If SH4 had it I woulda used it, though. :|

... shit bats.

New enemy type confirmed?

Silly, they're not making new enemy types. They're reusing the Totally Rad ones from older Silent Hill games, despite the entire point being they were subconscious manifestations unique to the character. Heh, you set me off on one. I really want to know how they explain Pyramid Head.

The EU release has been pushed back to Q2 2009. Why? Fuck knows, but it's been made official in several emails users have received from Konami.

Homecoming is supposed to be released via Steam along with the US 360 and PS3 versions, surely that means I can just download the game from Steam and play it? No?
