Ah damn I was just about to make a thread about this. I love the look of this game, right up my street! Shame I'll never get to play it though seeing as it's only on console.

I'm definitely getting more and more excited about this with each video I see from it. I'd still wish that they'd do more of a horror based game than the shooter it looks like.

I'm afraid the game is too much action based from what i've seen so far (and therefore less creepy than it could be). If this was like System Shock it would totally rock with these gfx and art style.

This. I don't really dig the third person shooter stuff, it reminds me of 'The Thing' game (God how annoying was that one?). I like the way the health bar is part of the character so there's no HUD obscuring anything, I don't remember that being done since Trespasser's 'boob tattoo'.

Mega gravedig because the game is getting a remake

https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2021-07-22-ea-makes-rumoured-dead-space-remake-official-and-shares-first-teaser-trailer?mc_cid=c84658f252&mc_eid=1ae7a2a277

...and I have never finished the original! (surprise surprise)
I was actually quite at good point, probably 2/3-3/4 in and for some reason I paused it.
And (surprise surprise) having dusted off the X360 recently, I was playing with the idea of either restarting it from the beginning (or play GOW2).

I also have it and sequel on PC ?

Theres a certain argument to be made that without the original team there, its going to be a very hollowed out game. Dead Space is one of those series that really only worked as well as it did because of a few people with a vision and a passionate team. Case and point being Dead Space 3 is the least liked of the series and it had a large amount of meddling behind the scenes by higher ups. The people with the vision kept getting road blocked so the share holders could be happy. So now a lot of people think its going to be a worse Dead Space 3.

But at the same time, EA has learned a lot in the last 8 years, so its not necessarily doomed.

Another point to bring up is according to the rumor mill, Visceral saw the writing on the wall and did everything they could to kill the franchise with the final DLC for Dead Space 3. After that the studio got put on death row, working on battlefield until they were inevitably shut down in 2017. They knew they were on the chopping block and didnt want EA to continue the franchise without them. So a remake, no matter how good it is, can be argued that it goes against the original dev teams intentions.

Even still, its a bit too early to tell where the game is going.

I think it's also another example of how the games industry has gone the way of the movie industry. Big studios are afraid to make new IPs because of the inherent risk that comes with it, and they also seem to be incapable of such a task, which reinforces the first point. How do you combat this? Make (very) shitty additions to the series or remake the one that had massive success in hopes to have that success again.

Dead Space was fucking brilliant and it's still available for everyone to experience ($4.99 on Steam btw). Remaking it to try and re-capture everything it brought to the table back in 08' with current gen specs, from a gamers POV, I don't see that point.

@FMPONEFor those who've yet to play it, I'm sure it'll be a good time. But as someone who's played the original, I can't help but scratch my head and ask why. I also don't want another gem of a game having its reputation ruined over a decade after its release because company xyz wanted to boost their profit margins.

Look at it as future proofing. I think remakes and remasters, if done right, are good for game preservation. And if you don't like the new version for whatever reason, you can always opt to go back to the older one (assuming all versions remain available, which ideally should).

I also like that this thread started out with people complaining for whatever reasons and more than a decade later they picked up right where they left of ;)

Also the original literally won't run on win10

Well - it doesn't run on my system anyway, and I've assumed that's the reason
