Thrik Posted June 12, 2008 Report Posted June 12, 2008 Heh, wow. That interview is insane. These are three ageing guys who really were pinning their hopes and dreams on this, and they've completely destroyed themselves. In a weird way it's kind of sad. Quote
dux Posted June 12, 2008 Report Posted June 12, 2008 Ahaha what's even sweeter is the game showed in the trailer looks like it was created by a group of retarded monkeys. Wait, no. A group of retarded monkeys could have done a better job that these 3 sorry excuses for "Game developers". Quote
Buddy Posted June 12, 2008 Report Posted June 12, 2008 They apparently used shot from "Spawn" movie in their trailer. Quote
PogoP Posted June 12, 2008 Report Posted June 12, 2008 Oh my. That trailer is shockingly bad... It looks like it's from the early 90s. Are these guys completely serious, or is this some kind of joke? Quote
D3ads Posted June 12, 2008 Report Posted June 12, 2008 I'm speechless.. I really am. Did they seriously think that no one would notice these assets? I mean.. the comparison shots just make me LOL for real.. seriously. Even if a non-profit modification did this it would still be beyond wrong. On the subject of the Stalker/Crysis mod, that's technically legal since GSC have allowed their content to be used in other titles, so long as it's not for profit. Kinda talentless though ripping entire sections from one game to another if you ask me. Quote
Psyshokiller Posted June 12, 2008 Report Posted June 12, 2008 Oh... my... god... that trailer is one of the most retarded things I have ever seen. It hurts. Quote
D3ads Posted June 12, 2008 Report Posted June 12, 2008 Oh my LOL, that scene with the guy falling into the fire wormhole is indeed from Spawn... hahahaha! Quote
Sentura Posted June 12, 2008 Report Posted June 12, 2008 Heh, wow. That interview is insane. These are three ageing guys who really were pinning their hopes and dreams on this, and they've completely destroyed themselves. In a weird way it's kind of sad. i agree. it's weird and i pity them on one hand, but on the other, they did go ahead and steal honest work of others. i wonder what spurred them to do this... apart from the "dream of becoming millionaires" Quote
Hourences Posted June 12, 2008 Report Posted June 12, 2008 Maybe they thought that it wasnt such a big deal to use screenshots? Possibly because of their age, we grew up with this stuff and the moral values of this new media and the online communities, they might not have a clear idea of the dos and donts online because of their age. Nonetheless, they still shouldnt have done this. I also pitty them, but its their own fault. And they know whats going on, I saw one of them login to a forum they use today. Also find it sad that there are so many struggling developers out there who all try to get hold of a publishing deal and get their hard work to pay off, and never succeed. And then these guys rip off everything, make the worst game ever, and get their "creation" onto the shelves with seemingly little trouble... Quote
Laurence Francis Posted June 12, 2008 Report Posted June 12, 2008 Welcome All. First off I'd like to thank you all for interest in Limbo of the Lost, we're really proud that our game is admired even by Mapcore community which we love the most. It seems that one or two users here claim that our content is a rip-off from titles such us RTCW, Silent Hill or Oblivion, no they are not. To my knowledge, using other games as inspiration is not a crime and I'm pretty sure You all know how inspiring these are, we simply tried to archieve a simmilar feel and it seems we made it! I hope You all like the game and it's immersive story, we've did our best! Please support us by buying LoL and give us an opportunity to advance in Game Developement industry. Best Regards, Laurence Francis. Quote
ShaDoW Posted June 12, 2008 Report Posted June 12, 2008 Hahaha, not sure who from Mapcore posted that, pretty funny though. I've been following this story since I read about it at work early this morning. Its just sad really, because I understand these kind of values were different back in the day but they have to get with the program. It seems to me only one person in their team was capable of doing some 'old fashioned' 3D design and animation which explains the low quality models and animations used in the game. The other development time was seemingly used for importing content from other games into their (stolen?) engine. Sure, its quite a feat obtaining all that content but that doesn't make it good. And yeah, seeing that game getting published while other independent developers struggle so hard makes me feel sick. Quote
Laurence Francis Posted June 12, 2008 Report Posted June 12, 2008 Dear ShaDoW, We use inhouse engine which utilises 2d backgrounds and 3d characters for cutscenes. I'm responsible for all Voice Acting, Steve did all character models and mocap editing and Tim painted/rendered all 2d backgrounds (which were inspired by other games such us Oblivion and RTCW). We've put 10 years of hard work to make this thing happen! I'm glad You all like it. Best Regards, Laurence Francis Quote
Hourences Posted June 12, 2008 Report Posted June 12, 2008 Stop nicklaming They were using the Wintermute Engine, not inhouse. Quote
2d-chris Posted June 12, 2008 Report Posted June 12, 2008 Epic laughing out loud momment, you know I'm surprised it's taken this long for a "con" like this to happen. Quote
