Minos Posted June 11, 2008 Author Report Posted June 11, 2008 Alright I just updated the portfolio, it looks much better now. Thanks everyone! Quote
aaron_da_killa Posted June 12, 2008 Report Posted June 12, 2008 Nice portfolio buddy, I like the idea of clicking each object to view the details about it, and the colour scheme is great, I have always preferred a dark background with content ontop of it. Also, I think you'll find that an environment artist and level designer are the same thing (unless that was intentional), 3D artist is the term for a modeler . It would also be a good idea to add a contact (your email address) and a download link to each object on your portfolio. If your worried about server space, than just get a free filefront account, the only limitations to uploading are the files must be less than 1gb and take less than 10 hours to upload. Quote
Minos Posted June 12, 2008 Author Report Posted June 12, 2008 Env Artist and Level Designer are not the same Env art does the beauty and level designer does the gameplay. As for contact info, I already embeded my email to all the pictures (at the bottom of each, it's very subtle), so it won't be a problem if someone saves them. As for download links I don't think that's a good idea, with so many people stealing other people's work these days. I learned from my mistakes and will never release source files for my work again! aaron_da_killa Posted June 13, 2008 Report Posted June 13, 2008 I meant download links to the finished pieces of work, not the source files for them. Anyway, I think you'll find the term "Level designer" debatable, I have heard the term being used both ways. Quote
Skjalg Posted June 13, 2008 Report Posted June 13, 2008 World Builder, Level Designer, Mission Builder, World Designer, bleh... I've seen so many titles for the same thing. Quote
Bic-B@ll Posted June 13, 2008 Report Posted June 13, 2008 i like the simplicity, i think that mouseovers are desperately needed for the links on the left though. just a darker grey of something. Quote
TeddyBear Posted June 26, 2008 Report Posted June 26, 2008 I really like the direct feel of your layout. However, if you ever want to expand with additional art you might run into trouble with the current design, which seems to revolve around the present amount of media. All in all a very appealing and rememberable design nonetheless, nicely done. Quote

I agree that it's going to be a bit difficult to add additional art, let's see how things turn out! (I'm updating the portfolio tonight maybe) Quote
Zacker Posted July 3, 2008 Report Posted July 3, 2008 Also, I think you'll find that an environment artist and level designer are the same thing (unless that was intentional), 3D artist is the term for a modeler . Wrong. Quote
