Psy Posted June 2, 2008 Report Posted June 2, 2008 Hmm...this is going to be hard to explain so here's a picture instead. In Hammer, you texture an arch by clicking the texture on the side, and alt + clicking the face on top. The texture on top becomes perfectly aligned with the texture at the side. Can you do this in Max? I ask because manually rotating the face in the UV Mapping Window seems too much like hard work for something so simple. Quote
DvS Posted June 2, 2008 Report Posted June 2, 2008 Click face 1, click face 2, planar map? Should align the faces together on the uv map, I think? Quote
Psy Posted June 2, 2008 Author Report Posted June 2, 2008 That worked but I have another question. How would I break up all those faces into a single row of polygons as show in white? Quote
Zeta Posted June 2, 2008 Report Posted June 2, 2008 As far as i know you cant allign stuff like that in the uv map in that way. Try flatten mapping in the uvmap window (it's under one of the tabs). For the second question - get your hands on some uvmapping allign tools. I recommend chugnuts. I'm not even sure if max has built in allign tools but i certainly can't find them. You can get chugnuts here: http://www.chuggnut.com/scripts/unwrapt ... ptools.htm Although the page has changed since i last viewed it i think the tools are the same. Unfortunatly he doesn't seem to include a install read me. Anyway, what you would do is break off a pair of the vertices from that circle (right click - break) in the uv editor and drag them to the left. The lay them out in a line as with your other example. You can then select the top row of verts and allign them with chugnuts, doing the same with the bottom row next. I can post further instructions if you need me too. Quote
Psy Posted June 3, 2008 Author Report Posted June 3, 2008 Thanks for the linkage. It seems like a pretty useful tool but a lot of the buttons seem to be blank and have no icons, making it difficult to tell what I'm doing. I put all the contents of the folder - the .dlm and the two bitmaps - into the plugins folder. EDIT: Nevermind, I had to put the bitmaps into the UI folder. D: Quote
Zeta Posted June 3, 2008 Report Posted June 3, 2008 Looks like you have a potentially different version to mine but yes putting the bitmaps in the right location helps Quote
