I got vista 64 and I'm not missing XP.

Guys at crytek also used Vista to develop Crysis, right?

Most of the level-designers used win64 actually :D

ah ah, awesome! :celebrate:

Going alittle off topic,

Is Xp64 any good? I heard it had bad driver support so stay away from it, but many people here seem to use it and like it... Id love to use it as 64bit was about the only reason I got vista, and since that was a dissapointment to me its leaving me open to ideas.

I'm on XP64 for a couple years now and save for a few games that don't run due to copy protection issues (Beyond Good & Evil to name one), I'm pretty happy. I had some sound driver issues in the past with an older Creative card, where I was pretty much forced to run beta drivers that didn't love me. I moved onto a newer card with full 64bit driver support so it's not an issue any longer but worth checking out if you got some older hardware. Plus if you're going for 4 gigs of RAM it's a must, of course.

But yeah, I've been pretty happy with it. Down with vista.

There were problems with drivers and games but that was the day it was released, now its few years later and most companies arleady support x64 so its not a problem :)

Find a boxed copy of BG&E and tell me it's still not a problem. You can't even install the game. :XD:

What sound card is that? Is there a way to find out which sound and video card makers and drivers are x64 compatible and x64 trustworthy? I'm building a new computer soon.

The old Creative Live! cards were the series I had some issues with.

I recall in the early days of xp64 there being a compatibility list for software and hardware out there somwehere but it may have dwindled away 'cause I can't find it anymore. You could just narrow down which hardware you want and check the official sites and see if the drivers offer XP64 support. It shouldn't really be an issue if you're building a new system, all the problems I had were with older stuff. Newer hardware/software is most likely supported.

Ok, I give up. Do any of you know where I can buy a NON OEM copy of xp 64bit? everywhere I look its either OEM discs, vista, or entire PC's. None of which are the route I really want to go with. Although I'm not surprised its not the most straightforward thing since M$ declares vista to be Almighty.

Now the only thing I gotta do is find a place to buy a non-OEM disc :XD:

Why? Retail versions are rip-offs. If you're sure your going to be using the same PC for a few years you may as well go for an OEM version. I've used OEM Windows XP for my PC and Laptop and have never had a problem with it.
