Punky Posted April 1, 2009 Author Report Posted April 1, 2009 Took a nice action shot during class today Quote
Punky Posted April 14, 2009 Author Report Posted April 14, 2009 I'm not getting much replies anymore but anyway... Went to Amsterdam this weekend and of course, I took some pics! And some pics of a daytrip to Oostende (seaside in Belgium) with some friends; And someone took a pic of me too My wallet xD Quote
Punky Posted April 22, 2009 Author Report Posted April 22, 2009 Common people, I'd like some opinions on my photos. So that if my pics are really bad, or could be better I can improve. I took these after school in Antwerp. Quote
Minos Posted April 22, 2009 Report Posted April 22, 2009 Some nice stuff here, I really like this one http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3301/343 ... 9b9a_o.jpg Quote
Punky Posted April 22, 2009 Author Report Posted April 22, 2009 Thanks Mino Dux: I shouldn't be laughing with that because the guy in the picture is a friend of mine, and I usually hate racist jokes, but I have to admit, I laughed also, the pic that's your favorite was taken through the window of a (moving) train Quote
dux Posted April 22, 2009 Report Posted April 22, 2009 Really? That came out really nice for a moving shot. Good stuff! Quote
e-freak Posted April 22, 2009 Report Posted April 22, 2009 i really like http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3316/342 ... 0688_o.jpg but most probably more for the content than the photographic quality, although your person-shots seem to all be very narrative (which is positive). i like the 3 first from the latest post, but alot of your shots seem to be random snapshots (perspective, focus, settings-quality, stuff like that) - dunno if i get you wrong there but some more composing although it might feel taken from artistical to artificial in some cases, it can really help to try imagine a shot without the cam (close one eye, run around and make "snapshots" with your hands) and then really look into image lines and stuff like that. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3647/346 ... 3b61_o.jpg is one of these shots were it feels (for me) as if you just hit the shutter but put little thought into it before hand. imagine every picture would cost 19 cents (as it did in the old days) and you can only take 36 pictures (as it used to be) when you go for a shot (again, i don't know if i do you injustice here and you put alot of thoughts into every single shot but that picture at least doesn't look like it for me) Quote
Punky Posted April 23, 2009 Author Report Posted April 23, 2009 Thanks for the tips! I agree with you about some shots looking too random, that's probably because I usually just pick a location that looks good, go there and take pictures of everything in that environment that has potential. So that causes "some" random pics. But I'm just a beginner, and I really don't look at these photos as anything completely finished, more something of a learning process. I'm going to study photography next your so I hope that'll improve! Quote
DvS Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 Color one is better. I don't really think b/w pictures of flowers make any sense seeing as how strongly we as humans associate flowers with color. Quote
Punky Posted May 6, 2009 Author Report Posted May 6, 2009 Color one is better. I don't really think b/w pictures of flowers make any sense seeing as how strongly we as humans associate flowers with color. Good point thanks It gave more contrast to the picture though because the flowers all had the same color in the first pic, but you're probably right that I should leave flower pics in color Quote
Punky Posted May 9, 2009 Author Report Posted May 9, 2009 Not having to go to school + boredom leads to wandering around in your city for new places with your camera I know this one isn't exactly a good photo, but I was trying to make that really apocalyptic-end-of-the-world photo, I seem to have lost some quality in this picture because of the editing though...
