Taylor Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 Boris Another Japanese band, I’d be surprised if nobody has heard of them though. Lots of feedback, drone and awesome. Envy And another. I think the stuff on Insomniac Doze is really good, I don't mind the older stuff but it can devolve into noise quite fast. Your mileage my vary. Just pleasant to listen to. I also listen to a lot of slow, progressive stuff while I work as it's not too too distracting. Like Do Make Say Think, Red Sparowes and Godspeed You! Black Emperor. Could name a load of these though, and I imagine if you know one you know them all. Quote

Chunks Posted July 24, 2008 Report Posted July 24, 2008 good call on the post-rock stuff. You guys should check out explosions in the sky. (you've probably heard of them) I'm a prog-fiend. Speaking of japanese bands...Melt Banana? http://www.myspace.com/azap? I'm not much into noise rock but some of their stuff is pretty damn good. Quote

Jetsetlemming Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 I've got a demo CD of a band called Mellow Commotion from the Philadelphia area. The sound's sort of light acoustic rock with a good, happy beat, I liked it a lot, but sadly the band broke up shortly after that demo CD was published. I could rip it and stick it on Youtube because that seems to be an OK way to share music if anyone's interested. The other lesser known band I like is an Australian band called Machinegun Fellatio. I have no clue how popular they might be in Australia, I suspect they might be pretty popular, but I've never met another fan in the US. I was introduced to them by a New Zealand friend. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pc--PM8YU7o http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6AWv0G41Buw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x9eID-xW0Zc Quote
