ReNo Posted May 19, 2008 Report Posted May 19, 2008 Somebody posted this round at work, and I think it's awesome. It's a free album download of a Hip-Hop/Bluegrass crossover, called Gangstagrass. It works remarkably well actually; well worth giving a shot. http://www.gangstagrass.com/ If you can't be bothered downloading it or just want a wee sample, there's also a myspace page... http://www.myspace.com/gangstagrass Quote
Campaignjunkie Posted May 19, 2008 Report Posted May 19, 2008 Damn, Reno. Those be some phat beats. Thanks for the link. Quote

Kinda remind me of Idlewild, who I'm rather partial to. I'm sure you've already heard Idlewild as they're pretty damn huge, but for anyone who hasn't, they're a Scottish indie rock band. The songs they've got on myspace right now aren't amongst their best, sadly, although Roseability is pretty good... http://www.myspace.com/idlewild Quote

But after a while I realized I was really listening to the banjo and music, not the rapping. IMHO the rapping is kinda.. not great. Its cool to hear some more rap that has good musical sense(not just 3 notes and a shitload of bass looped over and over like most popular rap...) but I wish they had done a better job matching their rapping rhythms/pitches to the music. I just don't feel their rapping blends.. really at all.. with the music. Quote
Skjalg Posted June 10, 2008 Report Posted June 10, 2008 Small bump, but I just had to share this; Quote
Spellbinder Posted June 27, 2008 Report Posted June 27, 2008 K, then i'll share this and i bet my head no one (here) ever heard of these guys. But first of i like em, i know the drummers niece, he is a friend of mine. This band was really "hot" back in the 60's in the US. But they are of course Swedes as so much other music that was hip in US back in the days :þ Another Swede also in the 60's. Made all his songs/tunes in the basement of his house, with a 16 channel A track recorder, also "hot" in US lol.......... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mkOnqYF2ciE And i could list forever but meh you know, im old. Defrag Posted July 1, 2008 Report Posted July 1, 2008 Jim White. A strange man who makes great country music. I'd highly recommend "Drill a hole in that substrate and tell me what you see" http://youtube.com/watch?v=jvbsgXMBeNM Quote
