Got a headphone amp and some new cans for work, love me some good audio to work with ^^

 

 

 

Looks like the headphones i've got, AKG K550 right? How are you liking them? Great pair or cans for the money, only thing i find myself doing is pumping the bass up a little with an equaliser. I understand they're flat studio headphones but they need a bit more bass and they just come to life

 

 

Yeah, exactly,  very happy with them so far, I like accurate studio sounding gear, and then warm it up a bit with some tweaks to the EQ. Big drivers like these take about 250 hours to really warm up, from what I've read online. 

 

 

Didn't you own some Beyerdynamics? What's better about those AKG? Are they monitors? how are you amping them?

These are for work, the others are at home the AKG's actually don't need extra amplification, they are 32ohm, but I got the bravoaudio amplifier to warm the sound up a bit and give me a real volume control.

I was looking into that one actually, how do you like it? I got the 250ohm and my little amp kinda struggles to it juice.

it's great, not that I'd tell the difference from other ones at that price, but it's well built and reliable. 3 or 4 people at Crytek have it and they all dig. It's rated up to 600ohm like just about every headphone amp ever.

 

If you get it, don't freak out if it's getting hot, when it's warmed up it can be almost too hot to touch, but that's just what it does. 

 

You can replace the valve too, for ones with different audio characteristics, I'd only do that if it died though
