Psy Posted April 30, 2008 Report Posted April 30, 2008 It's just the fact that the achievements detract from the gameplay. I find it odd that even when there is six medics on a team I seem to get healed less then before the update. Quote
Zyn Posted April 30, 2008 Report Posted April 30, 2008 It's cause they are busy bonesawing everything. Quote

I find it odd that even when there is six medics on a team I seem to get healed less then before the update. I haven't even touched the medic yet for that reason. Having 5+ medics on a team of 10 is just retarded, especially if they're just circle-jerking each other for achievements. Just have to deal with it for a week or two for things to calm down a bit, I guess. Quote
dux Posted April 30, 2008 Report Posted April 30, 2008 Sure glad I went back to play competitively with natural selection so I don't have to put up with crap like this Quote
Chunks Posted May 1, 2008 Report Posted May 1, 2008 I played goldrush for about 3 hours straight last night, however, half the time I was pissed off. I'm kinda pissed at valve for releasing stuff like this bit for bit because then all anyone does is masturbate to the new content for 20 mins, blow their load, and then just drop the game completely. I couldn't even play half the time because my whole team were nothing but medics while I'm the only normal class and the people on the other team just destroy us everytime. No matter what server I was on it seemed like this was the case. There were a few instances where everyone was playing like they were supposed to and it was a blast. I wish the achievement whores would just die in a fire, then the game would be great. /rant Quote
JohnC Posted May 1, 2008 Report Posted May 1, 2008 Oh yes, a pox on these farming lamers. After all, it's so easy to heal a teammate as he earns an achievement. Or join a game a friend is in and heal them. Or be the first person on your team to go medic after someone calls for one, then heal them. That'll be real easy now that there's 6 medics running around on every team... The bottom line is that almost all of these achievements are so ridiculously hard and circumstantial, and all to get three measely weapons? I can only imagine the kind of frustration people would have trying to be there for a one in a million moment these things ask for, try to earn them, then get killed or have some sniper way behind them screw it up. I had no qualms breezing through Call of Duty 4's multiplayer challenges for my golden guns, and if I played this game anymore I'd be probably be hard at work right now. Quote

MJ Posted May 2, 2008 Report Posted May 2, 2008 goldrush is fun luv burning people with pyro ;] Quote
R_Yell Posted May 2, 2008 Report Posted May 2, 2008 The point of these achievable weapons seems to be just popularize the medic class. Playing a supporting role isn't very rewarding in itself, and TF2's medic is a damn boring example. However that class is key for a team to success in this game, and gameplay is much more fluid when there are medics in your team, you die less times and you feel part of a team. So making the medic class more appealing using achievements and rewards is certainly interesting to me, perhaps not very well executed in this case. Other option would be making medics as fun as they were in TFC. Quote
Zeta Posted May 2, 2008 Report Posted May 2, 2008 I was pretty unstoppable as a medic before, but now with the vampire gun i'm laughing. I find you can actually charge ahead of the pack with near total confidence, unlike most classes, all the while firing the gun to reclaim any health you lose from incoming fire. From your forward position you can then rain down needles on everything in sight, provide advanced healing from a hiding place where the enemy won't expect you to be or just sneak up behind the unsuspecting defence and bonesaw everything to death Quote
