Thrik Posted April 24, 2008 Report Posted April 24, 2008 ... to revive a bunch of beloved old properties they didn't sell such as Earthworm Jim (game and a movie), MDK, Descent, and Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance. http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=134134 Not everyone's type of games (although you're possibly weird if not a single one appealed to you), but it's pretty surprising as Interplay seemed to be entirely dead not too long ago after shutting down operations in 2004. Pretty nice to see truly old-school developers coming back. Quote
Cybbe Posted April 24, 2008 Report Posted April 24, 2008 I used to love Earthworm Jim, but probably won't be too interested now... MDK, Descent and Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance though... Could be interesting Quote
Chunks Posted April 24, 2008 Report Posted April 24, 2008 It will be interesting to see how it plays out. Interplay still is not much more than herve caen and a few other people, they are subleasing half of the office that they are leasing right now if that gives you any indication. Unless they get a huge infusion of investment capital very soon I don't see them going anywhere. I'm skeptical and not very optimistic about interplay, but I hope it does turn out well. Quote
Erratic Posted April 24, 2008 Report Posted April 24, 2008 KINGPIN 2 WHERE IS IT? But a new MDK or Descent could be really cool. And a proper 3D Earthworm Jim could be really really cool. Quote
Cybbe Posted April 24, 2008 Report Posted April 24, 2008 I just don't think Earthworm Jim works for 3D, tbh.. I'd rather have a 3D based 2D game of it. It'd be more fun, I think. The EWJ 3D for PC kinda sucked Still played it though ._. I'm such a sucker... Quote
Chunks Posted April 25, 2008 Report Posted April 25, 2008 Yeah, I would be satisfied with something similar... They could even make it a xbla or psn title. Quote
Thrik Posted April 25, 2008 Author Report Posted April 25, 2008 I've not really thought much about the gameplay of a new Earthworm Jim, but the IP alone is really cool. It's got the kind of depth to its universe, characters, etc that increasingly uncommon in platform games these days, somewhat akin to Psychonauts. Leveraging that and creating a great script/etc will go a long way. Quote
