Meotwister Posted August 1, 2008 Report Posted August 1, 2008 Jk, I really dig peris style and he's one of my inspirations of course. I agree with this nice stuff minos! I like those clouds in that environment a lot. The 'middle ground' coulda been a bit better, little bit scribbly now. I need to be better at that too actually Quote
Minos Posted August 1, 2008 Author Report Posted August 1, 2008 I made a nice crane brush and decided to give it a go in this sucker The brush is pretty cool since it follows the direction of your brush strokes. You can make all kinds of cranes, curved, angled, you name it =) Quote
Minos Posted August 2, 2008 Author Report Posted August 2, 2008 Two quickies (15 mins on the first - 30 on the second). The first one is very boring but I'm posting it here to track my progress anyway. The second one was actually meant for a daily speed painting thread in cgtalk (the theme was "red") but I got a little carried away and spent extra 20 minutes on it. and a bic pen drawing. I'm thinking of working more on this idea: Quote
Minos Posted August 6, 2008 Author Report Posted August 6, 2008 Another one, had a lot of fun doing this one! Quote
Meotwister Posted August 7, 2008 Report Posted August 7, 2008 pretty cool man, the perspective on the crosswalk is a little too angled down (towards the foreground y'know?) There probably could be more contrast too but I dig it man. Quote
Minos Posted August 8, 2008 Author Report Posted August 8, 2008 Yeah totally agree about the perspective. I noticed that when the painting was done :S Here's something I'm working on. Line art by a friend. Quote
Meotwister Posted August 8, 2008 Report Posted August 8, 2008 I really like your coloring on the linework, could imagine some kind of short comic style that way. The perspective line where the floor meets the wall is curves oddly tho. Quote
Minos Posted August 13, 2008 Author Report Posted August 13, 2008 Alright here's another one. I went for a cyberpunk'ish look for this one. The perspective is kind off boring but I'm finally feeling able to work with nice 3 points perspectives from now on =) The water is very sucky and WIP as well. If anyone know any good tuts on how to paint water or has any good tips feel free to post them. Comments and critics are appreciated as always. ChA1NsAw 1 Quote
Meotwister Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 sweet man! I like this one a lot. You use the polygonal lasso a good deal in yours dont you? The reflection of that one building is awesome but yeah I agree that the water lacks. For water my personal preference is horizontal strokes building interacting color. You could watch that one video tutorial someone (probably you lol) posted that had the speedpainting of the craggly rocks in the water and the tree on a teetering rock in the distance. Quote
Pericolos0 Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 hey these are getting pretty good! You are getting a cool grasp of the concept art mood tricks . Throw in some perspective and some more interesting shapes to the buildings and it will really rock =) Quote
e-freak Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 the mood in this is awesome but i think the building in the far left is a bit too sharp Quote
Sentura Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 good work. i think the white stripes in the water are superfluous though. and the water needs to ripple more; no large water mass would be as still as you make it to be (judging by the faint ripple you've applied to the build). also, it seems sort of like it was made for pixel art... just at higher resolution. ah i know, the lines are too straight. it seems... unnatural. Quote
Minos Posted August 14, 2008 Author Report Posted August 14, 2008 Yeah I agree about the pixel art thing. I didn't use any vanishing points so the perspective is kind off boring. But I wanted to paint something wide so I guess it works fine for this case. I'm calling this done now: Quote
-HP- Posted August 16, 2008 Report Posted August 16, 2008 I have ZERO experinence on digital paiting, but i must tell you, these are indeed looking fucking amazing. Especially this last one, congrats dude! Quote
