HL2 Run Animations gone bad

Recommended Posts

Not sure if this is the right forum for this but i really need to get this fixed.

I’m having problems animating a custom character for a HL2mod.

This is the first time I ever animate for Source so I’m a bit confused about how I should work.

I’ve made and implemented a run North animation and its working just fine.

But now I’m working on the runNE and runNW and I’m having serious problems making it work.

I think the error lies with the center bone “ValveBiped”. I’m using XSI mod tool and the valve biped rig.

When I want to set the movement of the character I’m moving this bone to sync the feet’s with the ground.

When I try to rotate the animation for the runNE/NW I rotate this bone 45/-45 degrees and thereafter rotate the upper body.

But this just wont work, in the model viewer, the feet’s are always pointed North and the only thing that even looks different is the ground.

It moves at an variable speed, chopping between static and very fast and in the intended direction of the run animation.

I’ve tried different ideas to solve this but I just cant see to fix it.

Please, if anyone has any suggestion/answers/pointers or in some way assist me- help out! ;)
