st0lve Posted November 3, 2008 Report Posted November 3, 2008 Both games got some sliding NPC syndrome Npcs in my game slide everywhere, it's annoying The game doesn't really work as an FPS, nor work as an RPG. It's an OK game if they squeeze the major bugs out (like crashing ever 10 minutes), but it certainly isn't as buggy as people claim F1 and F2 to be. The game really needs to be polished, A LOT. Quote
arhurt Posted November 3, 2008 Report Posted November 3, 2008 I've been having a hell of a lot of fun with the game and I think its very good despite what you say. And the game never crashed and I don't see that many floating NPCs or half of the bugs you guys describe. The only think I'll agree is to that annoying Moira character. God was I happy to blow her head with a shotgun! Quote

God was I happy to blow her head with a shotgun! Aahhh aa yeah Moira is annoying as shit, but thats what she's supposed to be. I think the dialog is pretty solid, you have the same array of options as FO2, plus everything is voice acted and animated. It is certainly on-par with FO2 with sheer size and quests, there is just a huuge ammount of stuff to explore. I've got stuck in the landscape twice and had issues with a gun not firing a couple times, and once after I slept, there was some crazy black hole/tear in the space time continuum, but after I ran out of sight of it and came back, it was gone, so no real harm done. But other than that everything has worked fine, no crashing, no bugs, nothing. It definately feels like Fallout to me. I think the landscape and characters are spot-on. I mean, damn near everything is taken straight from the originals. I applaud Bethedsa for the time and dedication it took to so carefully emulate FO1/2 in 3d. Quote

KoKo5oVaR Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 Ok fuck you guys i'm going to buy it this afternoon Quote
-HP- Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 I just got my lunch box today! This is the best CE I've ever bought, the little shaking head little guy is awesome, ah ah! the 45 minute long making-of is also very nice and pleasant to watch, and the art book is huge! Can't wait to try this game when I get home... something tell's me I'm gonna ask for a day off tomorrow... Quote

And the game never crashed and I don't see that many floating NPCs or half of the bugs you guys describe. Hell today I saw a bug. I shot a merc in the face with the shotgun and to my surprize instead of having a gory mess he just flew up a hundred yards in the air... he died from the fall moments later Now I had a great quest this morning when I'm just scouting the ruins and I get a radio signal. Turns out there are some guys trapped in the top of a hotel surrounded by supermutants. Getting them out was fun. The feral ghouls in the underground are scary! Jumped out of my seat a couple of times already (I know you can hear them a mile away, but you can't exactly see them and they are fast!) Tuning on the Galaxy Radio and hearing the news about your actions is pretty damn fun. I wonder if you play a bad character the guy's oppinions will be different. I heard about some kind of oasis on the Galaxy Radio and am headed that way, lots of exploring to do! Quote

I found the location for the oasis after I overheard some raiders talking about it. Quote

I found the location for the oasis after I overheard some raiders talking about it. This is one thing I'm in love with about this game. Every peerson I have talked about it has had a different experience. Some find a given quest/area via exploring, others hear about it from raiders and seek it out. Every gameplay feels unique depending on where and how you go and meet and react, the world feels so alive it's insane. Quote
st0lve Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 Yeah it's their random encounter thing. I met one friendly super mutant (more like ORC! and then my game crashed so I don't really know if he was recruitable), and one dude who said "HELP THEY HAVE BOMBS" and some raiders blew me to hell with a couple of Fatmans Oh and I met dogmeat, he joined me, then I sent him off for some ammo, and I haven't seen him since.... -HP- Posted November 5, 2008 Report Posted November 5, 2008 Shit, I've played it a bit tonight, and I'm completely blown away by this game! Even the graphics looks fucking nice, some of the terrain textures look a bit over-normal mapped, but apart from that the exteriors are really nice, and the interiors even nicer! I didn't played it much, only played around 2.5 hours, I'm at megaton at the moment, and it started getting dark. the lighting is really great! Those screenshots Bethesda made public before the game came out, don't show the true potential of the graphics. So yeah, that's pretty much it. there's shit loads of Fallout3 closed minded haters, including on MapCore, so here's a really sweet "fuck off" to ya all, I'm loving this game! PS. Does anyone know how to take screenshots on this game? Edit: never mind, found it, just press the prtscreen button, and it will create a .BMP file on the root of the game. here's two screen's I took before going to bed! Quote
dux Posted November 5, 2008 Report Posted November 5, 2008 Again, if you had played the first two you wouldn't be wetting yourself so much. Quote
-HP- Posted November 5, 2008 Report Posted November 5, 2008 Maybe yeah, I do played a bit of F1 here at work last week tho, and I could get a taste of it. it's pretty nice, it should have been the shit back in 97 Quote
