Belgarion
I'm going to be totally honest (because I think you'd rather have honesty than BS) and say those are all very meh. I don't have anything against playing with a camera, but that's obviously what that is. There's nothing wrong with playing (that's the best way to learn how to use a camera), but any time you're taking shots with lighting like that it's playing with the camera more than photographing something. There's nothing wrong with a P&S camera either. SLRs are cool and all, but about the only thing they really have over point and shoot cams is that they are easier for an experienced photographer to get an exact setting. The image quality is second to your ability to use a camera well. I think this explanation is the best: The best Digital SLR in the world shooting crap is still only taking the best looking shots crap in the world. Your crappy little P&S cam taking a picture of the most amazing sunset you've ever seen is still taking a photograph of the most amazing sunset you've ever seen. Your camera can not make up for, or stop you, from being in the right place at the right time. I think I'm going to put that in a sticky or something.
