Jim F Kennedy reacted to mendaxyz in Shepherd
Our map is in Group 5 for the playtests, which means it starts on the 18th. We've updated the map in preparation, including changing the CT Spawn and Site B. We've updated the workshop here:

Also, is anyone familiar with if we need to be present for playtests? We may miss the first week due to family obligations. Thanks!

I've been trying to make each building feel individualized, with the houses styled and decorated a little differently than the ones beside it:
Also since the map takes place in the morning, I think some soft colored lighting helps create a nice mood:
(I'm still trying to touch up this this scene)

Just updated the workshop with latest changes.
LINK!
Last few weeks we been working on defining some of the areas as well as working on initial color palette of the map.
Some areas turned from big blocks to something that has a proper shape and a bit more detail to help ground them in general theme of the map.
Here are some screenshots and a golf course map that our artists prepared!
Good luck to everyone that managed to enter the contest!

Super fun and super balanced, this is de_panlong which you'd better not slip it through your fingers.
Today we updated about really playable water system that can fill the bombsite.

Sorry for the radio silence. We've all been working on detailing the map and I've been perfecting the layout to hammer out its flaws. I'm aiming for us to coordinate our work to be on a version of the map sometime in July, but for now I can share some screenshots of the map.
CT Spawn (Major change):
CT Spawn now has timings with taking map control of specific key areas that I intended for, as well as providing opportunities for safe rotates in post plants.
B Connector and Lower Mid (Rework):
B connector has been simplified significantly and its routing to mid has also been changed too. There is now more significance as a quick rotate to middle from B site, but less power to being able to hold the position. The exit into B no longer can see into B main, forcing CTs to take a more aggressive position into B short for more control. There is also a raised platform in lower middle, which takes up previously useless map space and provides CT a better position to hold pool from.
A Main Stairs (New):
This new route into A main provides faster rotating opportunities from A main to upper A, and defines A main as a T controlled part of the map.
Detailing work (done by me):

So... I'm finally making my blogpost here, this is a competition after all, so better generate some hype.
Unveiling: de_lagrange, formally known as de_spaceelevator. Join the CTs in defending a very potent new form of energy storage, or the Ts, hired by a rival company, trying to destroy this new prototype. This scirmish of truly cosmic proportions will take place on an important checkpoint at geostationary orbit of the great space elevator to lagrange point 1 (aka L1). Which company will be able to take the victory on this one?
The map is a remake of a source 1 project of mine, though most areas have undergone severe gameplay changes. The gameplay centers around one central bombsite, the space elevator platform. During the round it will slowly move down the elevator shaft. Both teams will try to take control of important surrounding positions to get an attack angle onto the bomsite, while CTs can also choose to access it at the start of the round, taking a defensive position on the platform itself.

Wow, it's Panlong's crazy 🏛️ BRICKS UPDATE 🏛️
The area when terrorists drop into the mid has been well decorated, together with a whole-new postprocessing.
I also balanced B site again, now both T and CT would be rather calm instead of rushing day and night.
Some constructions was repalced by detailed walls, which reveals those actual map designs.

Jim F Kennedy got a reaction from RazzleDazzle1 in WIP in WIP, post your level screenshots!
Been slowly remastering Vandal for CS2, it's probably around 95% finished, just usual spit and polish, working on a uni group project (by myself lol) so absolutely stuffed with work ontop of finishing up this.

Most recent update has added the new Construction area, tweaked timings slightly, and introduced more of the architecture to the level. Once all of the walls have been built I'll be uploading this to the workshop. See you there!

Jim F Kennedy reacted to Edgar Sarkayan in Level Designers, I need your help.
Okay this is very important to me. I am currently applying for a vocational college education program in Level Design. It is a 30 month long education in Sweden, it is a honour for me to be accepted. Now I meet all the requirements but, yes there is a but. The college requires me to show a portfolio before last of April.
I am to draw or design a two paper world map by myself. Also volunteering showcase 5 items I have designed or draw.
Here you come in. Do you sense it! I have never draw or designed anything.
I need help with this, please reach out to me. I can show the description of what needs to be made. Please help me achieve my goal to become accepted to the college as a Level Designer. If necessary, I might pay if no volunteers is available.
If this is on the wrong post, let me know.
Thank you in advance!
/Edgar

Jim F Kennedy reacted to Radix in Counter-Strike 2 Workshop Q&A
Question: Are there any example map files (from Valve) to learn from?
Answer: Not much atm (early 2024), no complete maps. But there are a couple of interesting *.vmaps here:
...\Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\content\csgo\maps\editor
For example this small part of dust2: "toolscene_lighting_de_dust_day.vmap"
Smart Props Zoo:
...\Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\content\csgo\maps\editor\zoo
Some basic entities that you might want to use in your map:
...\Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\content\csgo\maps\templates
Some information about lighting:
