Just pushed the 'most-likely-to-be-final-before-the-first-stage-deadline' update on to the workshop, will be up soon. Gameplay got some small touchups but nothing major, map is in a pretty good place right now, and don't want to mess that up, will most likely experiment with an idea or two in the second stage, that is if it gets through ofc, but I'm hopeful of my chances for now haha.

It's been a while since my last post here, but it's for a reason. I've been working on a lot. And I mean, a lot. I wasn't too happy with the direction the map was heading in, so I reworked a lot of the theme and layout, while keeping the core of it the same. A lot has changed, but it still is definitely the same map, just with a new direction that I am more satisfied with.

Reworked and rethemed B site a bit, now it fits my idea for the map a lot better. I'm starting to feel more and more confident about the layout, but there are still a couple of more experimental things here and there that are likely to change. Also attached a gif in the spoiler section with the changes so far just cause I think it's fun.

Well, I've made quite some changes after the first playtest. Focused a bit less on the blockout this time around, but made sure that I know what I'm making thematically. Either way I think I am quite happy with how things are turning out, managed to keep the original spirit of the map while cutting down size and simplifying it a lot, and also just making some things more interesting here and there. Things should feel a bit more streamlined now, but obviously there's likely to be many changes in the future still.
All up on the workshop (including patchnotes because I am a maniac) if anyone wishes to take a look around
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3231465363For the next update, I hope to focus a bit on making some more assets, like the couple of textures and placeholder models the map already has. Maybe even make some nice renders for them, just to show off a little bit haha

Very close to being done with the first version of the layout/blockout. This is gonna be a lot of work, but I'm here for it!

Hey, we don't have too much yet but I like documenting stuff here, so I guess here we go. Will be working on a map with @Tollqnd set in Indonesia.
Update since some people been asking (mostly on mapink lol): This has so far been mostly a solo project and I will likely continue to work on this alone for the foreseeable future. Kwan helped me in the initial stages of this map, and helped with the foundations of the layout, but I've been fully in charge since. Taking on a solo project of course is a massive task, so we'll see if someone comes along who helps me with the art later on.

Hey @Lukyvald, thanks for sharing!
While Memento has a similar theme I still expect to come up with a completely new and original design. Monastero will be less urban, feature more natural elements and contain mansion buildings.
While I respect it and you are free to do what you will, but the references you chose are literally present and have been kind of recreated in Memento

It looks insane, but for some reason, those perfectly symmetrical cabels just hurt my eyes. But other than that... Good job!

The map looks amazing, and all the areas seem uniqe, I'm looking forward to this entry! Good luck!

What do you mean exactly by "detailing"? @JonyDrake
-
I mean.... Yeah, this map wasn't 'released' to the public (only some playtest videos), but this map was almost done in January... And that was a long time ago, not sure how I feel about it, becosue you had so much more time, for everything... It just simply wasn't out in the workshop. (And they started working on it, in decembot of 2015 )
And don't get me wrong, what you did, is absolutely stunning, and you deserve to win this competition, it just feels unfair.

@JonyDrake You really seem to elevate this map! Nice work so far!

From a map made by a guy with probably zero experience, to map, that has obviusly the most potential. At this point, you would be able to win this competition. Good luck, looks very promising!
