saw the 4th season of stranger things, happy to say it kind of pulled back from the direction I thought S3 was taking it

Not actually something recent but kind of a retrospective; Played war thunder quite a bit throughout roughly mid 2020 to mid 2021, coming from someone who mostly plays fps I have to say it was refreshing in many aspects. Compared to (pc) fps titles, it's certainly cool to actually be able to sneak up around someone and not just have them snap a 180 on you at the last second. In the same vain, positioning becomes a lot more meaningful when you can't just go prone at the push of a button, and movement in general becomes more interesting when people can't go from full sprint to complete standstill on a dime. All of that gets blown off the table by its frankly ridiculous restrictions on f2p accounts, though. There's plenty to be said about microtransactions in most modern titles, but war thunder literally will not let you pick which maps you want to play on unless you're paying for the privilege. As a relevant aside; most of the maps are fuckawful. Don't get me wrong, it makes sense - this way they can keep queue times low on all maps for paying customers - but it really makes for a terrible user experience. Relevant aside #2; leaving a match early nets you a, like, 5 minute cooldown - in casual play. ( it's more complex than that but it's irrelevant to the point ) It can be a lot of fun & makes for a great ''well I have 10 minutes to spare'' kind of game, but I'm glad to have quit it and wouldn't recommend it to anyone as is.

Picked up Far Cry (1) which I'd been intending to take a look at for a while It's interesting to see what the series started off with. One thing that stands out to me is the ability to fire a vehicle's mounted gun without having to jump into the gunner seat, which I enjoy. No [detection] bloops over the enemies' heads either which is honestly refreshing . . not sure whether 2 has those already or not. The combat's pretty solid once you get into the groove of it, at least in the first half(?) of the game. The enemies definitely deal more damage than in the rest of the series but it's paced well. Not enjoying the tanky mutant soldiers as much as the human ones. Kind of annoyed by the weapon scope getting cancelled when I strafe 9 inches

Hate to be a cynic ( or do I? ) but I have to say I continue to be astounded by the low quality of character animation in otherwise decent production value titles -
Ready or Not - The spiritual successor to Rainbow Six and SWAT 4
ThunderKeil replied to will2k's topic in Off-Topic
So it's only PVE, right? Never played SWAT or Rainbow 6 so it honestly looks like payday (2) to me more than anything from that introduction video Definitely not a saturated subgenre I think, so they've got a good shot to carve out a playerbase -

am I allowed to stop after 3 pages, or was this a trap to call me a quitter for not finishing it

(re)watched Shutter Island Great film. Very concerning that it took me more than half of it to be certain I had, in fact, already seen it

He's always been obnoxious and dramatic, it just used to be charming in a way, which I'd say he's lost over the past few years I don't think you can say the Valve drought hit him, that drought is basically what he built his channel on. Would people have been clambering for scraps of information if Valve regularly released new content and communicated with the outside world? Well, maybe. But I think it was the mystique that kept people interested, and kept tyler humble. Around when HLA was announced he went into kind of a ''see I am a real journalist!'' phase ( while still acting like a neo-youtuber/streamer, mind you ) which honestly became grating pretty quickly. The same reason anyone of vague noteworthiness dislikes journalists, needing to lock your bins to keep people from rummaging through old mail is not by and large considered a hobby. I'm sure once upon a time they found his obsessive fanaticism endearing, but that's easier with a 15 y/o than a 20-something.

If you haven't played for more than 2 years I strongly recommend against it, it's more liable to spoil your memories than to let you relive them the bot issues are about as bad as ever, and Valve seems to've stopped caring, honestly. Maybe they're holding back until they can fix it permanently, since the band-aid solutions weren't received well, but it's a sad state at the moment.

I'm in a similar position - I really want to get in on it, but I'm pretty sensitive to motion sickness & I don't know anyone with a headset to try it out You'll probably get the option to receive it as a gift code though, so if any of your friends does end up buying a not-index it doesn't have to go to waste

What was the playtesters' response to all the silos? Cs players really love to hold/peek their corners so I imagine all the round curves might become fatiguing Just based on your video I thought the layout was very difficult to read, so I downloaded the map to check it out myself. Couldn't really play it due to missing props but I guess between the video and the radar I can piece it together IMO, the large cluster of silos makes for an awkward shape to place centrally in the map, and may be disorienting to first-time players Got a bit carried away with this but my point is I think using simple bold shapes would work better as a central point;
