    Hello everyone, I'm here to introduce MANIAC, a map that started as a conversation among friends and is about to become a reality.
    THE IDEA: The concept is to create a mental asylum that encapsulates all its characteristic locations within a CS2 map. Initially, the idea sprang from the notion of designing a map akin to a prison, but as we brainstormed further, we realized it would be challenging to articulate or imbue each space within the map with meaningful significance. Consequently, we discarded the idea but retained its essence.
    We then delineated that elements such as cells, the prison-style, and areas providing a specific aesthetic had to be included. Drawing inspiration from films like "Shutter Island" and abandoned penitentiaries such as "El Marginal" and "Alcatraz," we identified key features:
    - Cell block area
    - Rehabilitation-themed zone
    - Penitentiary-style architecture
    - Weathered or antique industrial aesthetics
    So with all this the asylum was born. We decided to name it "MANIAC," a title that amalgamates many aspects of the ideas we had.

    Hello Everybody! My nickname is n00l. I gave 12 years of my life to this game. Now I'm starting my journey in cs2 mapmaking. Previously, I only did this in real life. I hope for a good result. Even if I don't finish the map before the deadline, the work won't stop until it's finished. Therefore, keep an eye on this topic until the release. I don't know how long this will take. I hope the community will help me create a balanced map, the way I see it. May NIPPER bless me!

    The map will be in the wild west setting. This will be the set for the next film from Tarantino. Terrorists will try to prevent the release of the masterpiece (just kidding).
    A site is an architectural heritage from the times of the gold rush, around which the sets for the film were built.
    B site - a storage facility for real ammunition and pyrotechnics (hello "Rust")
    MID - should play a special role in timings. Only one terrorist should have priority in entering the backyard or barn. The rest must fight their way forward.

    Word "Panlong" stands for loong( Chinese dragon )'s twirling, which is right happening over and across the map. There won't be more thrilling adventures than having battles below a dragon! ( just a statue though )


    The defuse mission is designed inside a secret tomb, where Ts and CTs must jump into the hole to start the round.( that will not affect any actual timings, just providing a sense of ritual )Above you'll see the metropolis scenery of Shanghai, and beneath the ground you can experience wild imaginations from the Chinese tradition.


    Map is now in its graybox, details and textures will arrive soon in the coming updates.
     
     
    4/18: Changed the skybox into a rainy night, and updated the CT Spawn.
    4/19: Weather and sound system renewed. Now we got a real storm in CS2 !

    Hello everyone! Good luck with the contest :)))))
    De_Gust is set in a wind power-complex in a dense forest in somewhere mid-Finland. With this map i want to focus on intuitive and fun angles and making the map grandiose with scale. I'm not afraid of making something bit more extreme to offer a more unique gameplay experience in the long run. Expect gigantic turning windmills and tall pine trees with clean concrete elements mixed with natural cliffsides and greenery. I stream a lot of the maps development so come join me on my youtube channel. I'll post some pics when i have something to show  Thanks!

    Very early days, working on geometry with playtest with friends soon
    First time making a map in source2, had a lot of trouble getting it compiled with the lighting since I do not own a gpu with integrated rtx but we got there.

    Me and @Radu teamed up for this map contest.
    We gonna be working on de_ map set in fantasy mini-golf park.
    Here is a small ref board for the project so you can get the idea for the theme.

    Going to make a map set in a fictional village in Zhangjiajie National Park. This sketch was made before I switched the theme from Japan to China but ever since discovering the amazing spires in Zhangjiajie National Park I realized it is just the theme for "big adventures"

    So far I have focused on the layout, and the theory of the map. Focusing on new concepts for me, such as funneling, progressive choke points, intentional ct roles and varying default cover catered for different playstyles. I have now begun work on the lockout and will keep you updated.

    My map's theme is going to be an indoor entertainment center, mostly focused on trampolines and bouncing (hence the name), along with other things like escape rooms, laser tag arena, karting, arcade etc. Currently, the plan is to have one of the bombsites in the Laser tag arena, and the other is either going to be in an arcade spot or next to karting track.
    Inspired by a local entertainment center I visited last year, with changes due to gameplay and other factors. Attaching some reference photos till I get an actual layer down (about 30% done with the first greybox)

    Update 1: Drawn out most of the CT side of the map in greybox, added some basic colors to some areas for distinction. These areas still need stuff in them, just posting to show of the overall feel for the map.
    Bombsite A is going to be set in a Laser Tag Arena. To make it also work functionally for gameplay I have proclaimed this area "Under Renovation" so the lights aren't ultraviolet as in normal Laser Tag Arenas, and also so there isn't as many walls (it would be too cluttered for a bombsite then).
    Mid is going to be the place where most of the attractions are. Right now I have adrenaline park themed climbing courses (the blue) and the classic McDonald's style climbing area for kids. I will add some trampolines and bouncy parts back at the T side, along with some other things on the right side.
    Bombsite B is going to be set at a start / finish line for a Go-Kart track, in a figure 8 shape plant zone.
    CT spawn is the lobby to the whole thing, with restaurants and an arcade area leading to B and the locker area next to A site.
    T area is still in works, I am thinking of putting it outside the building, and having to actually follow the part of the track for B site, and going into the building to enter the A site from a backdoor. They will enter Mid through the back area where the trampolines will be.

    Worked quite a bit on the map since I got back home from school. Refined a lot more of A site, and worked on developing upper A and B site. The plan will primarily to get a basic layout by next Friday.

    Hey everyone, glad to be back after 5 years.  I was working on remaking two of my old maps (including Luau from the Exotic Places Contest back in 2019) before I saw this announcement. I figure I start a thread here because it helps keep me actively engaged on the project, which was one of my big motivators back during the previous contest. 
    Since I want to avoid the trouble of the "remakes", I decided to start on something new. After brainstorming some ideas, I decided to settle on "de_taisha". It's a bomb-defusal map set in Japan, taking place near a taisha and an onsen. I settled on this thought after I recently took a trip to Japan in December. I thought not only would it be an interesting setting since it's based around my own "adventure" there, but it's also a step away from some of the more modern and slick architectural Japanese-based maps.
    This is so far what I've worked on for the last 30 minutes. Obviously it's just a sneak preview, but I figure I put this here to make some people interested.

    Some of my references will mostly be based on the Biwako Ryokusuitei onsen in Ogoto and the Fushimi Inari Taisha in Kyoto.

    I'll make sure to include the workshop link on this page when it does come out for playtesting. Best of luck to everyone!
