A bunch of new wood texture images are ready, both standard and seamless, on my TXR - Wood page.

I hope some of them are helpful! :-)

noobgames reacted to Vaya in Brittany [Day Of Infamy]
Just an update that I forgot to post here. New World Interactive contacted us pretty much the day after we posted the 'Brittany' update on the workshop and bought the map + Assets off of us. It's currently in the game's beta if you want to check it out. The majority of polishing and tweaking is being done by the talented Mr @Squad and I'm stoked about the direction he's taking it (a lot of 'why did I not think of that?' for his layout changes)

noobgames reacted to Freaky_Banana in de_Oakwood's paper sketch layout [CS:GO]
Hey guys,
Freaky_Banana here, original creator of the yet to be finished map de_oakwood.
Some of you may have followed the project others may not have. This doesn't matter, all you need to know is that I to date have not been satisfied with any of the 29 different layouts we tried. Now I want to start finishing this project once and for all.
Even though I won't be able to finish the map for this year, I wanted to put forward my newest handmade layout sketch (hence we are in the 2D forums). I know threads like this can prove a real nuissance with creators asking for feedback without handing out even nearly enough information for you guys to judge the map by. My hope for this thread is to be detailed enough to actually prove useful for my aspirations and constructive in the context of this forum. So here is everything you need to know about the new layout for de_oakwood:
Layout:
WARNING: This is only a sketch, not all proportions are entirely accurate, but the general idea of the layout should come across! Most timings measured all right though (see later this post). Timings: Height variation: Chokepoints: expected setup: defense spots (CT): Afterplant spots:
So guys, that's it for now, definitely let me know what you think! What will work well, what won't ? I'm pumped for your feedback.
Cheers !
PS: Just another reminder, this is still subject to change with scale, I am working on another paper sketch layout using editor units as scale this time, trying to stick to grid and sizing the map realistically.

Really cool in depth video about how exposure and filmic color grading work in 3d graphics. I was very ignorant of this before and committed some big mistakes in past projects. On Sampa for example the exposure was so badly set up that emissive intensities of 0.1 or so were already overblooming, I just went with whatever looked "right"
Even though this is using Blender as an example it applies to pretty much any modern engine or rendering software.

Took a quick break from the props and textures to go back to the map and flesh it out a bit more. Would like to thank those from mapcore and some close friends who gave me feedback.
Alpha 3 is now ready for test, layout and difference below.

I thought middle was too open and boring so I decided to rework it:
I added a central building that divides it in half:
Second middle:
What this does is, it makes it easier for Ts to take control of middle and quickly reach the B connector and support their teammates on the B site, which is difficult to take only from B Long.
Also there are more positions for CTs to play, but they are not hard to check camping spots, like it was before behind the crates and right next to the T entrance.
CTs can play from the central front facing door, they can play from vent room, they can play from Second middle, or they can push Squeaky from B.
Mid window also connects to a walkway inside the building separating middle.
There is also a boost spot between the central building and the Radio tower.
It certainly needs some tweaking. I want to make it so the cross can't be blocked off with only one smoke.
I have also removed the connector from Outside B Long to Middle that goes into Vent Room.
I hope you've made middle more interesting. Please tell me what you think about it. I'll playtest it and if it does not work I will try something else.

I'm not sure submitting two maps is allowed. I'm going to report this to the judges..

Oh I missed that part. Anyhow.. idk if it's smart to create a layout this way... but yeah each of us have their own work flow and style so..
Go finish your full layout and when that's ready and all basic things like timings, angles and etc have been tested ur self, go ask for feedback.
Please don't ask for feedback on something that isn't ready for feedback yet.. It's like you showing me the back of your t-shirt with the question what I think of it while not showing me the front..
