BjornFred got a reaction from Minos in [UE4] Making an Office Environment in Unreal 4 - Tutorial
I'm going through the tutorial now and I love the workflow! Very dynamic and iterative, perfect for a student of all levels! Easily one of the best modular environment tutorials I've ever seen so far, I wish there was a bit more commentary though.
I'll definitely use this workflow in my coming projects! Thank's a bunch Minos!

By no means anything special. I'm just happy I managed to texture a model entirely in SD. One year ago I could barely make and texture a cube. The prospect of where I'll be in another year from now excites me

Welcome to mapcore, hope you enjoy your stay.
The concept here is interesting since you are focusing on slow-paced exploration without any meaningful fighting; you just need to make sure that there are enough "things" to explore (hidden stashes maybe, or some Easter eggs...) and to have some scripted sequences involving the CPs and civilians where the player could admire them unfolding before their eyes.
Some issue I noted:
The upper floors are way too dark; lighting should be a priority for your next build
The locked doors appear the same as the ones that can be opened; it would be nice to take a cue from the HL2 stock maps where locked doors are clearly marked to avoid unnecessary frustration and wasted time going from door to door.
The key on the desk is a nice touch but you should consider having it as a prop/model in future builds as brushwork key looks massive, more like straight out of a shooter from the 90s
Keep it up

Haha, Yepa Grapen, learned that the hard way too. Also while holding down the "run" button and releasing it just before stamina reaches 0, you get a boost. So you can basically run forever without having that annoying stamina drain-paus-thingy.

Welcome to mapcore, hope you enjoy your stay
Nice touch at the very start welcoming the player with the combine fighting the zombie.
Good job keeping the central plaza/horse statue as center of interest/focus.
Some indoor locations/rooms were pretty dark and will need your attention with lighting especially if enemy encounters are to happen there.
The environmental lighting could use a bit of boost as it is a bit flat right now (a different skybox with different lighting setup, or tweaking the current values of brightness/ambient, use HDR with tonemap control, etc..)
Keep it up

Nice gun! You're knocking these out so quickly.
Been working on more props for my HL2 scene. Getting there slowly, this was a fun one

Now, that I have more time again for personal projects I want to pick up some new stuff. First on my list is Substance Painter, and it's been really awesome so far.
So I decided to rebake an old piece of mine and to retexture it :). It's still work in progress, details like decals and small stuff is missing, but wanted to share anyways.
All pictures are from inside UE4. The mesh has around 22k triangles and I use two set of 4k maps.

Working on this little lady this weekend. Got the high poly almost complete. Needs new screws, a couple of changes, and forward sights.

I played around with Marvelous Designer, and then retouched it for a couple of hours in zBrush for learning, as I've avoided zBrush on purpose for a long time. Here you can see my work for Transit, literal garbage.

Working on this for an art test. This is the highpoly blockout before I take it into zBrush for sculpting.

Nice one KIIA. Here I go (will use this building in a larger scene, not sure if I'll ever finish it)
Ps: For those who wonder what kinda commerce that shit is it's gonna be a comix shop.

I'm about 9 hours in and I'm still not sold. It's another example of an open world that feels so empty/sparsely populated. The characters are still not really clicking with me and I find the combat to be super basic... It's a shame they didn't include more elements from FFXII. The magic system is really lacking for me. As someone said previously, where's protect, shell, white magic etc? The car is a bit annoying too, I find it really boring having to sit and wait for it to take you somewhere. I know you can fast travel to cities and parking spots, but.. I dunno. Just isn't quite gelling with me yet.
I'm going to carry on playing though, I really want to see if it expands the combat system any more. If not, I think I'm gonna sell it. I just got to the second area which looks a bit bigger so I'm hoping that it improves from here.
I'm really glad that you guys are enjoying it though, genuinely. Each to their own I guess!
