I'm working on a map set in Prague, I think it's a great setting for a CS:GO map. I should really playtest it and get the layout sorted before I start detailing the whole thing though. Was a lot of fun making this facade however.

    Hey guys,

I've decided to make a hostage rescue map for once.
I don't know the real mapping rules for a good gameplay like on a defusal map.
Tho I think the layout of the map is pretty solid.
I have made a interieur map which is a nightclub.
The map contains 3 main paths for CT to enter the building and 2 vent entrances through the roof.
The midle of the map (dance floor) is pretty open and contains a few windows, I am wondering how this more open layout will work. I am afraid it may be too open right now, so it's impossible for CT's to first of all use the midle path and secondly get away with the hostage. What do u guys think?
There aint no real details yet, only on the hostage rooms to provide some nice gameplay on there.

    EDIT: removed some picture

    Update!
After I realised I had been a complete idiot, my map has returned! Some new screenshots with some early detailing going on. More things soon to be added to certain areas if they look empty.

Thanks for looking, if it hasn't burned your eyes yet.

I think you need to go back to the basics, the greybox. It will be easier to iterate your map and make drastic changes to quickly test them out, this way you will have control of all the angles and the way the map flows, the timings and so on.
KISS = Keep it stupid simple

Maybe one day I'll actually turn these into something? I occasionally work on these sort of scenes for CS:GO but I'm terrible at making layouts so I usually just detail little areas to look nice and move on.

you need to find a gameplay guy to collaborate with there's a lot of people on here that are the inverse of you- like doing layouts but suck at detailing.

Made my first model! Made in blender; it's a gothic ornament, hopefully for detailing a tower.

A CS:GO map i started working at the beginning of 2015, Is set in a harbor near Brooklyn. I gave up because i change some many time the layout that was becoming too difficult and a waste of time.

Map that should be  set in spain streets. Map became very costly for computer memory. Very sad. In this screenshots only Alpha build. RIP.

continuing off of this theme of never completing or really accomplishing anything past a scene here's some more things I never did anything with...
I've essentially come to the conclusion that I blow at designing layouts/anything gameplay wise (even after heeding your advice/links) so I essentially just sit and create scenes or straight layouts when I map until I can really figure out how to design a legitimate layout

    Seattle Neighborhood Street:
    Luxury Golf Course/Lodge:
    Arctic Submarine Base:
Construction Site (Either a large nature reserve facility or simply a city construction site):
New Orleans Streets (Posted this one before):
Now obviously these examples were detailed far before any sort of layout was built, and of course that is a pretty terribly incorrect way to go about doing things, but these are the more nicer looking examples I've got. There are countless attempts/examples of "full" greybox layouts I've made that I've either immediately hated or simply didn't feel were even worth continuing to pursue further. The farthest I've ever gotten with a somewhat decent and more or less acceptable layout has been with Monaco but that's hit a bit of a stagnant point where I've got little inspiration, but I hope to still be able to release that eventually.

Nothing really to do but keep continuing to create but I do find it rather unfortunate I can't seem to see a defusal map to completion.
