I took some time to improve the playtest config a little. With these changes the playtests should be more to the point with having a set amount of rounds that are being played each half (12 rounds) and players swapping sides automatically. Further details can be found in the changelog listed below.

Here is the updated playtest file:

I haven't been on this site for a long while (was getting more into the programming side of games), but now I need to get back into the art side.

Recently I discovered a Crazy Bump alternative while browsing a forum post on another Crazy Bump alternative.

Awesome Bump is a very good free and open sourced alternative to Crazy Bump:

If you removed all of those things I'm still not sure 747 would every release bastardo!

as for how to make a lot of stuff, spend 10 years with this editor, stay in good shape, thats the recipe. you need to be fit in order to map. also get an ergonomic mouse and eat healthy. also eat babies.

I have been wanting to do a Japanese styled theme for years, and I always thought that I would go for the Moon Dragon look, but then I saw Overwatch and added that I'm kinda exhausted by making dark and moody levels, I felt that this look would be really fun to bring into Q3, do the Empire of the Rising sun some justice (Japanese Castles are getting a bit old now =))

I know Sakura trees don't look like this, but I haven't had time to make a proper texture yet, so I just tinted some old leafs.

This is a winter themed TF2 map that i have been working on and off for quite some time. It's based on an old map of mine, cp_millstone that was my first TF2 map ever. But i made mistakes and it just didn't work. I did another map in the meantime, pl_5curve, that turned out much better.

But a year ago, i returned to this one. I was only able to work with it occasionally on and off but now that i have vacation time, i ended up nearly finishing it. I experimented with different styles over the time, from sunny to dark with different versions. But then i tried snowy (it's atm cold as hell here in Finland) and it just kind of clicked and looked what i wanted.

Without further words, Payload gamemode, longer track than usually, one more control point than usually in Valve maps and lots of work.

    Some images:

    - Starting area
    - First capture point area
    - Second capture point area
    - Path to the third capture point area
    - Third capture point area
    - Last area and 4th capture point on the right

Download link, get the map, click here!

Any further feedback is welcome, but this most likely is the version i will release as final. Thanks!

Hello everyone, my name is Carsten and I hail from Canada, I just recently stumbled upon this site and was very inspired by what I saw of the community, was excited to join up.

I dabbled in mapmaking a long while ago for CS:S and Unreal Tournament 3, as well as many other games, but have just recently been getting back into it again; I've started making some maps for CS:GO, to be uploaded to the workshop, they are as of yet unreleased but I hope to playtest them with the community soon.
(The first version of one of the CS:GO maps can be found on GameBanana: http://csgo.gamebanana.com/maps/181202 as well as one of my old UT3 maps, if you're curious: http://ut3.gamebanana.com/maps/96936)

I've also been trying to get into creating levels and environments for UE4, and basic game design.

I hope that I can offer some decent feedback for other peoples works and receive some in return; I look forward to seeing what this creative community produces and I'm happy to be a part of it.

    Cheers!

I didn't get crazy presents but food and money.

But something crazy happened on that Christmas night: all my family played my last game Ultraflow, and especially my grandparents. It was their first video game. They saw their grandchildren play a few time but they had never played before that night. They have even never understood what I was doing in my studies. And i can tell you that this particular moment, watching them playing their first video game, their grandson's game, my own game, is strongly anchored deep into my head forever. You should have seen them, they were really into the game. Mobile devices are so great to make people like them discover our video game world. They get it very quickly and played few levels. I was so proud of it. It was even funny 'cause they really felt all the feelings we tried to put into the game in just few levels. Damn, it was an amazing moment, so much emotions for me. I still got some tears in my eyes while writing this. Now they know what I do and they are proud of it. So am I.
So, I haven't had amazing stuff gifts but at least I had that, and this was amazing.

I have waaaaaay too many unfinished things; though a lot of them have been lost to the void at this point

Here's a few WiP shots of the first UT3 map I ever made(Never released it)
Made it following some simple editor tutorials to start, just kept adding to it.

There's a few more screenies of this and some more uncomplete stuff on my ModDB I think, if anyone cares to look, and I would post screenshots of a bunch of my CS:S maps that I made ages ago, but alas, they are lost.

Hopefully I'll be finishing more things soon and releasing them too.
