Radix got a reaction from AlexM in [CS:GO] Shore
One of the projects I worked on after I made de_austria.
Yeah, I know the timing is really bad (CS2!), but can't change it... đ
In general a lot went wrong during this project. Had a lot of problems with the layout, but I think I found a good compromise in the end. Also learned many new things. Maybe I would even be ready to create a really good map now after all, but I think that it's gonna be the final one. I really like making maps, but it has become too time consuming over the years for just being a hobby. Unfortunately I never managed to get a job in the games industry. So that's it. I hope it's a worthy ending of 20 years of making maps for me. đ

This map also, have an interesting history. Here it is..Â
Â
DE_BALKANS - 1 BUILDING 2 VERSIONS 3 YEARS
The story of this map began on June 23, 2020 at approximately 6-7 am (Interesting fact, I am writing this text at the same time). Inspired by the layout and appearance of the cinema building near my house, I drew the very first sketch of the future map in a notebook. As you might have guessed, the movie theater, or to be more precise, the territory on which it was located, was called the Balkans. From that moment on, I started to develop the map, and, just two days later, on the evening of June 25th, the first version of the map, Balkans Old, was released.
(Very first layout of map)
Let's get back to real life. By this time, the cinema building, along with the entire adjacent territory, had been demolished, and the construction of a high-rise building began in its place. Of course, this upset me very much, after all, this is one of my integral childhood memories. But nevertheless, the fact is that the map was created in the image of a previously existing real object, and now this object does not exist, and the map has become a kind of digital monument of this object, as well as my memories. And you know, it's.. It's interesting
(Balkans, on russian - ĐалĐșĐ°ĐœŃ)
After about two months, on September 2nd, 2020, I release an updated version of the map, and it is this that becomes the original version of Balkans aka Balkans I. It gained something around 700 subscribers and we often played it with friends during the 20th and 21st years. In terms of detail, it was sooo far from ideal. And therefore...
At the end of summer - beginning of autumn of 2021, I create a new fresh map based on Balkans I in a notebook and start a FULL reworking of the map, which takes me 4 months of daily mapping. It was... to put it mildly, not easy But nevertheless, on December 31, the long-awaited, new version of the map is released, which... Didn't become Balkans II, because I just burned out from such a long and continuous work on the same project. But fortunately...
The map was waiting for a similar scenario with the first part of the map: first release, and then refinement and a full release. Only with the first map it took 2 months, and with the second one more than a year, but it's not so important anymore After all, on the night of April 2 to April 3, 2023, I release a modified, ready, new version of the card - Balkans II! In addition to graphical improvements, it also received full support for such modes as partners, an arms race, a fight to the death, and in general it became ready for the game (Development and support of the map is ongoing and will continue, so feel free to write me pm on discord (sh1ft#7034) or in steam!)Â
So here it is ... from a thought and a sketch in a notebook to a full-fledged map .. Thank you so much for reading this story, I sincerely wish you, my friend, success in your work and in life!

Radix reacted to Rikuda in Rainfall
Hey everyone!
It's been a while since I posted anything. A lot has changed since last time. Rainfall has had some major gameplay changes, the layout has been completely redesigned (thanks to g3om), and it now looks like this.
Â
Â
Screenshots
Â
Cheburek also made some cool assets, which make a great addition to the visuals of the map.
Â
I also want to thank Twinnie for helping with rocks and cliffs assets.
Â
The map has come a long way, and I'm interested in your opinions as well as possible feedback on the flaws of the map, it would be greatly appreciated!

Zen (Bomb Defusal) - Released!
It's taken a little over 5 years of development, but after numerous tests and changes I can finally present Zen in a satisfactory state.
Workshop link:Â https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2954659602
Zen takes place in a medieval Japanese castle, where terrorists want to destroy the historical sites and monuments within the castle boundaries. As restoration is already underway, they see an opportunity to halt the process. It's up to the Counter-Terrorists to stop them!

It's been a long journey, and the map has undergone a lot of changes since it's original concept. While it's been quite simplified from its roots, it finally has some polish regarding the gameplay and basic detailing.
The map still requires some touching up, such as further optimization and improved artwork (and preferrably also some thematic colouring). However, with the release of Source 2 in sight, I will await the new techniques and tools in order to continue the next iterations of Zen.

Better skybox using sprites instead of models. In the most proximal plane i used models but in the most remote, sprites.

Hey all. Sorry I've not been around very much recently! Had a lot going on IRL and with work. Hope you are all doing well!
Been working on this scene for a while now but finally finished it up. You can check it out on Artstation. This has been a really fun project and I've learned a lot about UE4 and environment art in general. Really wanted to push myself to learn some new software. Speedtree is amazing!

Radix reacted to Lizard in County
Hello guys. New update.
For the last month I was working on map terrain, bunch of smaller generic structures and underground areas.
Terrain is almost done. Only one terrain patch that is still work in progress because Jakuza had some cool ideas for it  Should be done next week.
Right now I'm working on mine shafts that leads to bigger and more open underground chambers.Â
Â
Also some generic buildings to scatter across the map.
Â
Cheers!

Radix reacted to catfood in [CSGO] Engage
Hello all!
This post is a little late on Mapcore because I have been moving and working on other projects also but I still wanted to share the release of Engage with the Mapcorians for who missed the release on the workshop.
Two years ago BubkeZÂ and RZL came to me and asked if I wanted to work with them on a layout BubkeZ created in 2010 for CSÂ 1.6Â called de_engage and obviously I said yes.
The three of us then started to look at this old layout and discussed what needed to change to make it viable for CS:GO and improve on the original design.
RZL then made the first blockout with all the changes we discussed and handed the greybox level to me and I took it from there.
