  4. Agree, but I still think you must know optimization now, because if you start doing it now, you save so much work in the end. Too true!
  5. 1 second earlier isn't good enough. I though so too but on an actual play test you want something like 2 or 3 seconds unless its a rush site. other then that. I've got the same problems. I'd say go for it rather then think about optimazation already / lightning. Such things come rather late in the progress. And the general theme can change many times on a map. oh and welcome!!

  8. Hi guys. So I'm working on skins. But I have a hard time understanding what the alpha layer does/works. Lets say I want to edit the wooden part of this skin? would I be able too? And can I change how the skin wares down? I'm using gimp. Cheers.

  11. Another attempt today at making proper skins. Quite like the result this time. P250! Blue Version Green Version I think the blue version turned out better then the green one in the end.
  12. I like this one. But in the following image it looks a bit dull and more purple-ish instead of blue. Not sure what happened there Umm yeah... removing the green screen through alpha channels took away the green from the whole picture. So I had to recolor it and I might have hit a different color then in game. Changed both to fit each other, and made the skin a bit darker. Also made the handle black like the mag.
  13. Once you've taken the screenshot you're gonna use make sure you stay in the same position and write down the values for scale, pos_x and pos_y. Any changes made to either x or y doesn't seem to effect my radar in the end. I've made an overview before, where I just had to adjust it slightly. This is something else. It's way off. Edit: I think the problem might be my dds plug in making an odd file/texture or the likes. I use GIMP. Can someone make a dds file out of this image so I can test whether my GIMP is gimped or I'm just being completely blind/dumb with this overview. tga file I've done several radars in GIMP at this point with the DDS plugin. One big issue I figured out is that GIMP preservers an image's full size even if the canvas is shrunk so if the image your working with isn't 1024x1024 you have to remember to crop it to the canvas. Yep I notices that on my first attempts. But even with Squad's DDS file it's the same problem. No tutorial covers this problem. They mention if the radar doesn't line up proper then tweak the values. Which I've been doing but no value even moves the dds image.

  17. You mean the texture it self or the "promotion image"? Both can be fixed! Thanks for the tip! also removing the green screen using alpha channels in GIMP removes the green from the weapon also. So I have to spend time re adding the green to the gun so the "promotion" images looks like the in game skin. Isn't there a better way to do that?

    Made drastic changes to the map. As the other version didn't fit the idea I got for a theme and it was boxed out terrible. Leaks bad angles on boxes, overlapping so on so forth. Anyway I made a version I'm much more happy with and is eager to get tested. However my overview won't cooperate.   21. I dislike those skins.. the new ak as well. That's not in any case yet, its just a random one I picked off of the front page of the workshop. You guys think Katowice will bring new cases/skins? I hope so.

  23. I would like to have my map tested. Anyday is fine. Let me know when there's an open spot and what I need done before that. Other then send the bsp file. Radar need done? I've got troubles fixing the overview :/ Regards
