    Finally I can show you guys some of the work I've been doing on a hobby project!
     


    It's a fishing game for mobile platforms with one simple goal, catch the biggest fishies with the biggest rods, you get fish, sell it and buy more better gear. Currently everything in the game is placeholder graphics and the sprite for the player character is from Pokemon, will make some kind of a character later.

    Current Features

    - Fishing.
    Simple Fishing Mechanic where the player can go to the water and fish. - Three inventories.
    Fish Inventory Tackle Inventory Equipment Inventory - Fish Drop Tables, when a fish bites it's type is generated based on following:
    Type of Tackle used Type of Water currently fishing in. CURRENT TASKS
    Add a bob to the fishing mechanic. Add a cast mechanic so the player can aim at what range the bob should land. Add a Fishing Shop where the player can sell fish, buy Equipment and Tackle.

    By request, headbut body slam is now the only way to kill the cubes, unless you shoot them of course still pretty rough, and I need to find a way to blend in an get-up animation



    edit: I'm playing with a controller so the aiming is a bit bad

    Really wanted to learn a bit of UDK, having only ever really used in-house engines and Cryengine before. I'm really impressed with the material stuff, but going back to baking lights feels like such a step backwards in terms of time wasted! Bounce lighting is nice but lightmaps are so tricky to work with.
     
    Still very WIP, just blocking everything out still.

    By looking to your work in general, I've the sensation that your scenes aren't completed. Lot of things could be pushed farther very easily ;

    In fact, what you should do is to study an object and try to recreate it with the higher level of detail you can. Try to learn how it get old, dusty, rusty or whatever. Tell something in your work.

    Details aren't always in the diffuse map, they can also been revelated in the specular map

    The scale of your level looks pretty good, perhaps a little oversize but that's very common, if your working on a real life setting, it does no harm to look at photo reference if you want some ideas how to improve it visually (making each area a little more distinct) 
     
    I think, at this point, if your goal is to make the map more "pretty" (I can't comment on how it plays) then I would put some time into understanding lighting techniques, your outsides are very flat, so no contrast in the shadows and your insides are extremely dark. With all those windows and a daytime setting you would have quite a bit of light inside. If there's one thing that can really throw a scene visually it's lighting that does not match what your brain is used to. 
     
    Anyway, keep at it!

    I'm using 2 smoothing groups, but they aren't split in the uv. Currently that works best for me like (see post above). I might check this again later, but unfortunately I have quite some thing to do. But thanks for the tips, I really appreciate it.
     
    Anyway, just finished my lowpoly bake of the Foxhound I'm working on as well- exterior only 9,7k Polys and 17,8k Tris:

    The model itself is quite lowpoly, but I invested some more polys on the round elements like the handle. If someone still sees some errors don't hesitate to tell me please
