    Hi there!

     
    I'm looking for feedback on my work in progress hostage rescuse map, Exhibit. I've had quite a lot of fun with friends on it, but I feel I need to hear opinions from those who don't mind hurting my feelings.  
    At the moment, I'm all ears for any layout and visual suggestions. I've been toying with detailing, but realistically I need the layout to be nailed down before going any further.
    The map consists of two floors with mutiple exhibition rooms and hopefully promotes players to move around.
     
    This is the ground floor.
    CTs spawn in the lower right zone, where they have two main ways into the building; the side and front entrances. There are also some enterable windows along the front.
    Ts spawn in what I'm calling a staff room at the moment. There they have immediate access to a staircase that leads upstairs and access to the main atrium of the building.

    I've been trying to create my own textures and editing existing textures within CSGO for this project.
    Here are two texture packs that I have been using so far from GameBanana:

    I haven't looked to media/critic reviews in years for whether or not I should buy a game. I just look at Steam user reviews for if the game in question crashes or is a bad port then make my own decision. Any youtuber or streamer playing the game before release is sponsored and will only say good things about it, so that's easily ignored as well.

    Quick Update
    Got busy with some art test stuff, but hopefully should see a release within the next week or two. Thanks again for the support guys. In the meantime I took a little gif of the 3d skybox timelapse.

    There isn't a 'standard' resolution, it depends on factors like how big the objects are in relation to the player/scene, scale of the UV shells, etc. If this is a 'cover' height object that players get close to 1k might be reasonable, but you could also experiment with smaller color/diffuse textures and combine them with a detail texture to add the appearance of fine-scale details.

    out of all the screens you posted I would say these are the only ones that could be seen as a 'visual mess.' I would recolour at least some of the tarp so the scene isn't so blue. Maybe remove the clothes as well as they are too distracting. I don't like 'construction' areas in general on most maps as they've been well overdone now- like graffiti overlays.
    I think the real problem here is you have fatigue from staring at this day in and day out and you're now finding problems where there isn't really any The map looks insanely good.

    Tried out photo scanning today! I think the results from the software are insane considering my shoddy camera work and poor lighting conditions . I uploaded the model to sketchfab, if anyone's interested.

    A bomb-defuse map (obviously) set on a cargo ship.

    This time the pirates aren't planning on taking any hostages they just want to sink the damn vessel.

    Hopefully you guys don't find two posts in a row spammy, but I finished my fourth model today 

    Model might be a bit tri-heavy, (I probably should have optimized more) but I still reckon it's acceptable for game use. The model depicts a very common medieval weapon, and it was basically a gardening tool modified so it would cut and stab people instead of branches

    @kinggambit that looks incredible man, you've really improved since the map you were working on for the contest
     
    I just got back from Seattle last night and got some inspiration, but I'm just about to head out again on another trip so before it passed I quickly pieced together a modern townhouse type scene. Sorry for no compile.




     
    Used a bunch of assets from agency and resort as well, so cheers to those creators!

    That moment when the final compile has finished and you just walk around the map to be sure everything is fine before you publish the map and after 10 seconds you find that huge bug which must have been there for months and you never noticed.

    Lights can not be named in CSGO, because that basically means they're switchable and it creates these lightmap errors. Gmod runs on a different version of the source engine, which does support this.
