Kinky reacted to Thurnip in Blade Runner Sketchbook
I wasn't sure about where to post this, in cool pic topic, blade runner sequel topic (from 2011) or in 2d forums.
So, i posted it here, maybe we can have some additions to this topic, with more concept from blade runner.

Kinky reacted to Synthesizer in Flowmap Generator for Unity
I've made a tool for Unity that generates flowmaps using a fluid simulation. You can control the simulation using fields like vortex, directional, calm, etc. It's also possible to have the flowmap update dynamically within Unity, so you can move fields around, turn them on and off, change the level geometry, etc. It's also possible to export the flowmap so you can use it in other engines. I've submitted it to Unity's Asset store, hopefully it gets added soon.
Here's some more info, with a webplayer demo of a scene using a flowmap generated with this tool. http://www.superpositiongames.com/products/flowmap-generator/

Kinky got a reaction from Jord in Earning money with map making
Youll never be able to "sell" your map to a "consumer". The closest to this ive heard of is gaming communities and clans paying for custom maps built to specification for their servers. So youve got that, or Valve's "Community" business model of you throwing everything youve got at a map that you release for free in blind hope of them deciding its good enough to go in TF2 or CSGO (I, nor most people, know more than 1 or 2 people that have achieved this).
Or you do what most of us did. You do it for the passion of environment art and level design, then you bust your balls to turn your passion into a career. And then, if youre lucky, you get an industry job.

Kinky reacted to Thrik in How to remove cordon frame?
There's a good thread about this issue here:
http://forums.thinkingwithportals.com/mapping-help/removing-cordon-areas-t7076.html
One guy says you can just select them and press delete, but if not there's a manual VMF edit you can make (real mappers use Notepad).

Kinky got a reaction from Jord in New web filter to block forums
If the system DC is proposing goes ahead it will be run by Hauwei (who also run the TalkTalk system) so will likely be very similar. Although they deny it tooth and nail its also widely believed that Hauwei are in charge of China's blockade.
Sorry if that was in the article ...read millions of them already.

Kinky reacted to penE in DE_CACHE (new version)
Some of the stuff I did on cache :
Some of the textures:
In total there are 76 new textures being used in the final map . I tried to match the look very closely to the existing cs:go content.
Some props:
And props for the skybox.
I had to work extremely fast and efficient on these ones, as I had only something like two weeks to do it all, while it was the end of the term at university (with a lot of presentations, examns and all that). Still, it has been a lot of fun and I'm very proud of the output and the general map feels fantastic to walk in.

Kinky got a reaction from Izuno in Gamers are assumed to be immature, whiny assholes. Assumed?
Unfortunately this is just the landscape of the internet. Tell someone a tomato is a vegetable and theyll tell you that theyre going to rape your family. Take solace in the fact that the guy threatening you is a 14 year old who thinks CoD is a legitimate career path and move on with your life.
