    Yeah I have to agree with this, it's engaging when both teams are working together and playing the objectives but it gets frustrating if most of the team has their heads elsewhere. I've had some fun moments hanging out on the roofs doing my own thing sniping and ziplining around, but it seems like this isn't contributing to the general effort as much as having my feet on the ground with everyone else, because it's too easy for someone to gtfo with the package on a bike or something and therefore the moments in which I have the most fun are contributing to the frustration of other players or to our team's loss

    The map seems really small for a Battlefield game (there is reasoning behind this, sure, but still) and I'm not entirely sold on the gunplay either. I skipped out on BF4 so I can't comment there but in BF3 I felt the combat was a little more thoughtful and at least made me consider the decisions I made as I moved through the environments. Here I feel comfortable just sprinting and jumping all over the place and being careless with my ammo. It usually works out in my favour, but it doesn't feel as satisfying.

    Couldn't resist anymore and finally got a Wii U Got a pretty good deal, $329 for a Deluxe set with Mario Kart, a red wii mote and a free game download (Zelda Wind Waker).

    as for how to make a lot of stuff, spend 10 years with this editor, stay in good shape, thats the recipe. you need to be fit in order to map. also get an ergonomic mouse and eat healthy. also eat babies.

    It's nice to see people enjoying the game The reviews (or the scores rather) are not exceptional but players seem to be having fun despite the issues and that's what matters most!   Also (apart from the low-res textures issues) art and LD don't seem to be the focus of too much hate and that feels pretty good!

    I made a small introductory project: a flight game prototype, to get to know Unreal 4  a bit.
     
    It has a basic flight model, animated flappy bits and camera movement based on speed characteristics,  dynamic engine effects. A machine gun, with bullets that can bounce of the surface they hit if the angle is shallow enough and a few other things.
     


     

     

     
    Blueprint blew me a away on pretty much first contact, it really is pretty much like node based C++ and one can set up pretty complex objects and relations really fast. It is really really awesome.The material system is cool as well but there are some weird lighting things that are not so awesome, the cubemap captures work only once so you can't do multiple bounces, form materials there is the metallic property instead of separate dielectric and metallic values which I kinda dislike, makes sense from the art side, but in reality diffuse and specularity are pretty different and it would be nice to have direct access, I guess I could work around it with custom material functions, but that would still be approximate). Also my somewhat old system and its 4GB of RAM (8 is recommended so I did expect to see the issues) is a huge bottleneck: using lightmass is pretty much a no no (so only realtime lighting)  editing brushes also gets really slow and in general I need to restart the editor every couple of hours or I have to deal with 10 second to a couple minute freezes.

    Getting a rough art pass in place on my UT4 level layout. The goal is to make something akin to a portal test chamber but detailed enough to take advantage of the engine.

    Still trying to learn and push myself on learning how to model and texture environment art. Again, this is for a source project and a recreation of a prop originally mastered by Mr. Thiago K himself Hope it lives up to the original!
     
    The prop is used in a desert environment fyi, but I may have overdone the decay.

    I went in with medium expectations and came away blown out of the water. I admire and respect Warren Spector (probably my favorite designer outside of Miyamoto) but he was wrong to judge this before playing... It is downright amazing. Great work to all those involved! Are the developers at Machine Games helping out with Doom 4? I sure hope so! Great game!

    I guess if there is one aspect that I would have liked seen improved would be the transitions from cut scene to game play. Great music stops abruptly, no fade in, harsh cut from beautiful cut scene to spawning. Other than that I applaud these devs for a really enjoyable game.

    Sucks that shit gets leaked all the time, blows for developers As a dev I really enjoy waiting in anticipation in front of a big TV screen with all your coworkers, seeing the reveal live and all of the audiences reactions is magic... Don't ruin this moment.
     
    Ruining the surprise is one thing, leaking out of date shit is even worse.

    (Didn't work on this but this surely ruined a lot of "Christmas Morning" feels for a lot of people I'm sure)
