Another one of my favourite source mods. Frontline Force!
had a sweet aquarium level and the grenade explosions were ridiculous at the time

Yeah, as long as you give proper credit and it's for non-commercial purposes, it's fine.

Remedy has struck a deal with Rockstar and will be remaking Max Payne and Max Payne 2.
I’m so pumped, i replayed MP2 on a yearly basis for a while.

personally I’d be over the moon if they also were going to do Max Payne 3. Criticised by many, I really liked it. It was still max Payne, had great set pieces (and the multiplayer was quite fun)… I wanted to replay it many times but just couldn’t bring myself to endure the loading times.

I'm not sure if anyone can edit the OP but I just realized I'm listed as freelance. I work for blackbird interactive, currently on hardspace shipbreaker.

Age is the biggest component imo.
This is something I used to tell already back when I was moderating the Italian gaming forum, and that's many years ago: if we are realistic, we are not the target audience.
Most AAA revolves around these live service that we, as working professionals, in stable relationships, maybe mothers and dads, haven't got time for! I'm sure we have all seen stuff that looks like it can tickle our interest, but it's just too big and becomes offputting.
CliffyB was right when, responding to criticism to Gears of War, talked about the pros of shorter but more polished experiences. It's a shame we don't diversify more, for example I'd buy most COD games within the launch year, if they sold the campaign on its own at 1/3 1/2 of the price.
On top of time, themes are a big thing, there's not really much to connect nowadays for a mature audience.
I'm so glad I played Last of Us only last year, I think it triggered some emotions I would have never felt before becoming a dad.

Hard to believe that other thread was 3 years ago!
Really excited that SE5 is having trailers released now, I love this stage of the project as the public gets to see more and hype starts to build!

I remember playing Sniper Elite 4 with my nazi friend. We had a really fun time. We both cried when we killed Hitler.

I completely missed the announcement of this title, and found out only because of some deal on one of the many retailers(!).
I completely forgot posted something ages ago but the sequel probably deserves its own topic.

    Hi guys,
few weeks ago I finally released my map which was in the making, with long pauses, for something around 6 years I think. It is my first and only map for CSGO after mapping for some time for CSS.
I rearranged and reworked it more times than I probably should but now I come to the effect which I'm quite proud of. The idea was to create a real setting, with theme being fight between revolutionaries of FARC and army of Colombia and with unique, non-qudratic layout. Figths took place on the streets of a small town in a middle of a jungle. Targets are barricade on the main road and army supply stack.
Would love to hear your thoughts.

Picked up Far Cry (1) which I'd been intending to take a look at for a while
It's interesting to see what the series started off with. One thing that stands out to me is the ability to fire a vehicle's mounted gun without having to jump into the gunner seat, which I enjoy. No [detection] bloops over the enemies' heads either which is honestly refreshing . . not sure whether 2 has those already or not.
The combat's pretty solid once you get into the groove of it, at least in the first half(?) of the game. The enemies definitely deal more damage than in the rest of the series but it's paced well. Not enjoying the tanky mutant soldiers as much as the human ones.
Kind of annoyed by the weapon scope getting cancelled when I strafe 9 inches

After close inspection of m0nesy and s1mple's skull and consulting with Vaugh's manual of Phrenology, I believe I have discovered the long-sought secret of Counter-Strike mastery.
First here are some paintings of s1mple and m0nesy, with the skeletal regions of interest highlighted in ruby red.

Pay close attention to their hair. In both players' paintings it is combed to the right. Their eye colors are identical, and there's a significant correlation between the shadow-patterns produced by their eye cavities. Striking similarity is also found in the shape and color of their lips. Also pay attention to the lipo-chinal concavity, which seems to be of equal depth.
After examining paintings of many other players, I have managed to correlate each of these areas of the human skull with archetypal traits. I have produced the following Vaugh diagram to display these traits:

I may say, this is some pretty conclusive evidence for the existence of genetically-inherited traits that relate to performance in Counter-Strike-related tasks. I look forward to seeing more research from other phrenologists on this topic
