"The United States of America's video games trade body The Entertainment Software Association (ESA) claims that almost two-thirds of the population play games. That's according to its 2020 Essential Facts report for the industry, in which it says that over 214m US citizens play games out of a total population of around 328.2m.
49 per cent of US gamers play on PC, coming in behind games consoles and phones, which take 52 per cent and 61 per cent respectively. Casual games are the most popular genre, racking up 71 per cent support, ahead of action games – 53 per cent – and shooters, which were played by 48 per cent."

Pretty hyped for this now. That review above made me really excited for the combat and exploration. I say this about every PS4 game but damn I wish I had a Pro to get some extra bells n whilstles.

Finished this last night. I loved it.
It was short, but that just meant they could really focus on perfecting each level, it was great! I loved how sometimes you'd be fighting alongside BT, then you'd be alone switching between timelines, then back in BT for some kick ass mech combat, then you'd be flung across the map to wall run and do some nice environment puzzles. Nothing felt padded or stretched out to get the play time up. They were just like "Here, look how cool this is, now check this awesome set piece out, oh shit let's go fight in that mech over there"
The art was stunning in places I found it hard to believe it was a Source engine game. BT was wonderfully written, I really enjoyed his replies to your comments. Story was fine, but I didn't really care I was having too much fun with the gameplay.
Now I can join everyone else who's upset there doesn't seem to be any Titanfall 3 on the way.

I think even to a fault, in a certain way, I was left with a definite feeling of wanting more of the pilot combat… what I mean is that the game flows so much that I didn’t feel I could internalise and enjoy properly the scenarios.
But otherwise to me this looks like a master in level design, especially for what you can do in Source –I wonder how much they changed the renderer to make it perform like this– the factory creating the combat scenarios is totally bonkers and can’t shake the thought it informed the Dishonored DLC

Man, I wish I could go back to when VC came out, was such a great time in my life. Not a care in the world and spending tons of time playing amazing games like VC.
I'd love for R* to go back and create GTA games with the same themes/styles as 3, VC and SA. Heck, even a new GTA set in the GTA2 universe would be sick. I'd love to choose which gangs to work for and have a respect system back.
But alas, we get GTA V on another generation of consoles

Still think 2004 was a better year in terms of game released, but jebus.

Only way we're getting another GTA done in the same style is if someone other than Rockstar makes it.

It's not that bad, but it disregards what the fans loved about the original in order to go in a different direction that feels like the director's personal agenda. People had certain expectations for the first game's characters and to see them not being fulfilled was disappointing. I've made this comparison myself, but so have other people, Part II is what Alien III was to Aliens. There's also some bad design decisions here and there, but nothing that wouldn't have been forgiven otherwise.
If you disregard the writing, everything else is pretty much top notch. I personally think the introduction was slower than it had to be, the story only picking up 2 hours into the game, but whatever. Other people have complained about the gameplay, which for the most part has remained the same as in 2013, but with some minor improvements. Overall, on a technical level, it's a well made game.
And out of all the critics, I think IGN Japan is the most objective:
”The Last of Us Part II tries too hard to differentiate itself from its predecessor. While astonishing cityscapes and more varied combat options are great evolutions, Part II lacks the poetic serenity that made the original road-movie-like epic such a masterpiece. On top of that, uninteresting new characters burden the story, making Ellie's journey feel conventional and not nearly as captivating as the original. - 7/10"

One of the VFX artists I work with is in a sludge metal band and I'm really enjoying their new album. Although it's a bit weird hearing someone you knows voice in some music

Someone actually took the time to put into words the problems with the games maps
The only thing I would add is how uncomfortable most of the angles are on these maps. It doesn't feel like there is a good place to aim and I often get shot from off angles that don't really make sense. Maybe its because I am so used to cs, but even in community tests this happens less often than in valorant.
It really seems like the games marketing was all about being a competitive esports game, but all the updates they've done since have made the game more and more and more casual to play.

Isn't this like the 4th time they've released this game? Doomed to fail just let it die. What a ridiculous payment model.
