    y'all are faggots. i just watched this and it was amazing from start to finish. if you're going to qq over "plot holes" but not over some of the ludicrous shit like perfectly blown bridges, time of day changing over the space of 10 seconds (escape from wall street anyone?), etc etc... then you didn't quite suspend your belief hard enough.

    Hi Mapcore !

    Let me introduce ourselves : We are a small team of 3 students working on a Unity game with pinatas. We have a programer in charge of evrything really technical / AI , a character artist / animator and me as environment arist / level designer.

    The game type is some sort of Hack and slash with a lot of pets. The main character have few upgradables attacks and can create 3 types of pets : A tanker wich can taunt the ennemy , a damage dealer wich is fragile and a healer. There is going to be some differents kind of ennemies too with specific roles.

    For the feeling of the game we would like to get a contrast with a cartoony ambiance on one side and something gore/violent on the other.

    Here is the early first concept art ( wich is a bit too much cartoony because i'm too bad to do a real lighting in 2D ) and an in game screenshot from the camera view :





    At the time i'm creating this thread we are at 1 month of production , so it's far to be finished yet but i would be pleased to get some critics during all the process.
    Note : The UI is not definitive and we also have only one character at the moment , so we use it for all of them. The gameplay is far from what it should be too , the base mechanics are done but it still need to be balanced. The attacks arn't really implemented either.

    I'm going to keep an eye here on the replies so feel free to give any critics and comments , it would really help us to have an external view on that project.

    This is how I feel about the film. I WANT to enjoy it but I just can't help but pick holes in it. The bit where they are running away from the giant rolling ship makes me cringe each time....... Just...... Fuckin.... Step to the side......

    Yeah, that link is awesome. Prometheus is a clusterfuck of bad storytelling, unless it all makes sense in the sequel, which would be pretty faggotish of them.
    I've seen the movie twice already, and while some things made better sense the second time you see it, I still have no idea what some other things were all about, and I think I can call myself an Aliens nerd. Shit just doesn't add up.

    I mean, they do answer a few things, and I actually really love how some plot elements are told to you by very indirect means, it makes you feel smart. But some stuff is just impossible to figure out.

    And don't get me started on the characters. The Crew has no idea what their in for until they actually get there? Srsly? Also, the guy with all the nice maps and flying drones is the one who gets lost in the maze? He of all people?
    Vickis death was so stupid I can't get my head around it.

    Oh well... If you manage to ignore all the little stupid plot holes and just plain stupid writing, it IS one hell of a badass movie, or I think it is cos I really wanna like this movie

    We received a lot of models from Dreamworks and Cartoon Network, but mostly where character models or the Dragons themselves. The environments where not only created here from movie stills but some where entirely drawn up from scratch:

















    The interface was a very troublesome process to get to where we wanted to. We had to go back and forth a dozen of times until we where happy with it, and it ended up being one of the most engaging elements of the game, after the environments:

    I really love this design. A already saw some Sculpted Maya calendar, but this one isn't full of shitty noisy detail and have realy nice volume. This is a really nice job *_*

    Hi guys !
    I'm a technical guy so here is my stuff !


    Since a few month I do a lot of thing to enhance my workflow when I work on my 3D work. I have started to share some of them and I believe it will interest some of you here.

    I love to work in Maya, that's why I try to bring all the good ideas I met everywhere in it. So what can I currently propose ?

    (I'm open to any request, suggestions and feedbacks. I have a retopo script currently in development too. You can see it in action here : Video on youtube (at 3:25)

    -froTools 3

    It's a simple docked window to get access to the most used tools of Maya when you are modeling something. It has also a lot of new functions to speed up/make easier some tasks.
    I have a lot of friends who use it now and all of them says that this script have increased the speed of their work. I myself can't work without it now.

    Example of features :
    -Automatic obj/fbx exporter (with center to grid)
    -Interactive bevel
    -New shortcuts (quicker extrude, snap and weld vertex)
    -Quick UV translation, scale and rotations
    -Memory selector

    This script is an automated batch fro xNormal. The big advantage is that you don't have to launch xNormal to do that, the script do it for you. So you can work directly from Maya ! The script support the export of your low poly, high poly and a blocker mesh. You can of course tell to the script to use an external file as you high-poly (from example is you use a very big mesh from zBrush).
