Am really interested to see how collisions are being handled in these insanely detailed worlds. A multiplayer game with lots of players doing collision tests against this kind of geometry must be expensive as fuck. Or they have just offloaded modelling time onto making collisions instead...

Started last night, getting all the same great vibes from the first one. Really appreciate all the new enemies.

Honestly they would "win" more by investing more in the actual software and maybe a little less on the free games. One of the reasons Steam is the go to for consumers, its largely due to features.

How do they decide which and how many maps to make for OVerwatch, Apex, Fortine, CSGO, etc?
Mostly through market analysis. This is a business/creative director/executive producer level decision.

Say a game is aiming at WWII setting, how do you decide which cities or places to go? How is the creative process?
You general create pitches for a whole load of locations based on how they work for gameplay, general thematics/narrative themes, landmarks, etc and then pick from the best pitches to move forward with.

    Hey guys,
Finally got around to make a short breakdown of the Source 2 scene I made a while ago. I made sure I took a few WIP screenshots as I worked on it, so I could do a thorough breakdown later on, so here you have it.
This engine is really fun to work with, you can model nearly everything in editor, just like you could back in the BSP era, I really hope to see more engines (specifically Unity/Unreal) follow suit, as removing the need to use so many third party apps from your workflow really makes making maps a lot more fun.

(Had to divide it into two parts, as ArtStation limits the amount of characters per post.)

Ok, change my view. Doom eternal DLC is dreadful. Its a bunch of fights in terrible environments and poor AI compositions (its just more of all the enemy types with zero complimenting fights).
    Examples:
2 doom hunters in the same room, where they have very specific vulnerable timers to hit doesn't work.
Fighting a cyber demon in a LITERAL hallway doesn't work.
Fighting multiples of the strongest enemies in an environment with lots of edges to get caught on and 15 or so small adds to get caught on doesn't work.

No, I was curious to see if the game could handle stacking the NPCs in the house in just one area... but then I had to take a step further with a larger area. I call this The Morning After

It is not possible to achieve herd immunity without vaccination. It certainly has never been done.
The vaccine has now been given to millions of people (one of my friends in Germany got his 1st shot of the Pfizer vaccine today). The number of severe adverse reactions can be counted on one (max 2 hands) I believe. That is definitely in line with other vaccines and other medications available on the market. Honestly, the side effects of covid are already known and are much much worse.
As for long-term side effects. I read a very interesting article about this by a virologist (I can't find it as I am posting this)... but the way it was explained (and I am badly paraphrasing) was basically that based on how this type of vaccine works, the ingredients in the vaccine dissipate in your body very early on so it's not even possible for the vaccine to cause problems years down the line. The jab's main job is to trigger an antibody/immune response and provide instructions on how to fight the virus if it enters the body. When that is achieved, the actual vaccine itself basically dissolves in your body. Again, I am really badly paraphrasing what the original quote was, but that is essentially how it works.
Also, I repeat again that the vaccine was not "rushed" out the door as some are claiming. The safety trials were completed satisfactorily. The reason it feels like it was rushed is because in normal vaccine development the stages take much longer to pass as they aren't being pumped full of money by literally every country on the planet.

I will be taking the shot as soon as I can. For those of you who choose not to, that's certainly your choice. Just know you are contributing to the global community not achieving herd immunity. I also imagine you will be restricted from getting certain services, or entering certain public places, and rightly so.

I know I am no longer active here, but I just wanted to report in that I have accepted my first full time position with Lost Boys Interactive as a VFX Artist. So even if you're struggling and its been years, know that it can still happen when you least expect it.

Agreed, I have a category in steam called "Completed not finished" for games that im done with but i didnt 100% or finish a full campaign of.
As soon as a game is bought it goes in my favorites so its at the top, when that list is too long I don't buy anything. When im done with the game it gets categorized and removed from favorites.

I feel sorry for the devs. They've been crunching for god knows how long. Probably screaming at management saying the game isn't ready for release and then they go ahead and release it anyway causing a bit of a shit storm with tons of bad press and angry fans. No doubt they'll be asked to crunch/work over the Christmas period to get hotfixes and patches out when upper management knew what state the game was in.
I know it's a big game with tons of stuff going on and bugs are inevitable in a game of this scale. But they must have known how bad it was on the current generation of consoles and still decided to release it anyway. I'm sure they'll fix most of the issues eventually and I am still looking forward to playing it myself but I just feel bad for the devs.
