  5. Okay so for someone who appears so concerned about the history of FPS modding ... where is the coverage of Team Fortress and Counter-Strike? You know, the FPS mods who defined a decade of top-tier FPS titles ?. Somewhat lacking, it appears. Considering the 43k players who are playing an 11 year old FPS mod (more than Borderlands 2 on release day, I might add - and close to double that of MW3 (source: steam stats)) right now, I think you do these seminal games a disservice.

  7. CS:GO also only costs £12 because its essentially the same as CS:S. Pretty easy to price a game low when you didn't put much time or effort into it.

  9. I play on my work pc (max-end current PC spec) in 1.6 on 640x680 with everything on minimum, left-hand weapon models and low net-rate settings. Sue me? I'm sorry to say I played 1.6 to some high level tournaments (wcg etc) and CSS too but CS:GO just seems bad to me, even css feels somehow nicer? I dont really know why, some weapon feel or something. CSGO too easy to headshot, no recoil at first few bullets but if u must spray, no control at all. 1.6 imo had perfect recoil control - very skill-intensive but also very rewarding and in the scope of the overall 5v5 competetive gamemode it was definitely not overpoweriong - very balanced skillbased mechanic. in CSGO it feels like CSS in the regard that almost all highlevel play is teamwork-based rather than having the ability to pull out the clutch with huge individual play. Players like f0rest and Ne0 will be irrelevant in this game. To make a reference to NBA basketball .... there will never be a Michael Jordan or a Kobe or CS:GO - it simple is not possible. The skill ceiling is too low. Similar to CSS there is very small room for huge impact from individual play. There will not be any moment like moto at (eswc?) huge tournament winning 1v4 behind moto box. Youo won't be seeing huge plays from individually strong players. It will be shit to spectate and shoutcast imo. With CSGO random recoil and all that shit - retarded mechanic. Luck based not skill. Bad for competetive.

  15. I'm not sure exactly what the point is you're trying to make here. Yes, we know that making games is hard. Especially those of us that make a living from making them. Which is why when I hear about a startup involving devs from a community like this ... and it's yet another modern combat fps which (whether you like it or not) is going to be directly competing with behemoths like BF3 and CoD ... I just think come on, what the hell. Firstly that's just a stupid business proposition, and secondly why can't we do something original for once. It's yet another case of an indie startup taking the colossal, unique advantages of being a small, low-budget outfit and throwing them out the window in order to enter (and attempt to compete in) a market which is anything but a level playing field. Thank god for kickstarter because you'd be fucked if you tried to pitch this to investors.

Selling a product that is almost identical to a product you previously made available for free .... doesn't make much business sense. Nobody is going to give half a shit that the artwork has been marginally updated.
