Thanks for the feedback guys!
Turns out there is a problem with the env_fog_controller in b1. It looks perfectly fine on my rig, just as it does in the screenshots, but when rendered any other rig, it ends out looking like this: http://img693.imageshack.us/img693/1001 ... b10000.jpg (props to aaron_da_killa for the screen).
To remedy the problem I simply re-compiled and uploaded a new .bsp without any fog, which looks a bit odd at first, but better than it would if it was wondrously broken.

I started this in October as a project to work on in my spare-spare time, with the goal of finishing it quickly. The result is a bread and butter Half Life 2: Deathmatch map going by the hyper-original name dm_rain.
It is fairly small and was designed to play tight and fast, with support for teamplay.
I'd really like some feedback as I'd like to have this map finished and done with, I'm happy with how it is at the moment and I don't really want to have to pump out half a dozen beta versions. Any feedback at all would be beautiful.
After a month and a bit of procrastination, I finally got all the suggested changes from around the internetz implemented into a final version. Changed the name too because it was too plain and didn't work to well.

I played this through the other day and I was thoroughly impressed with every inch of its design. I'll be looking out for part 2 in the future.

I felt like sharing this with the core, my submission for the interlopers map battle titled "atrium".
It is a recreation of the infamous Guggenheim museum, 100% custom content and with 40+ pieces of art on the walls.

A good old hl2dm map in the making...
source has crappy rain.

That is probably one of the best looking hl2dm maps I've seen, delicious.
Once it's out and about I'll definitely have to download it and check it out, looks darn nice.

All your drawings are so incredible, I need to learn how to use Photoshop for this!
If you could point me in the direction of some good tutorials I would probably kiss you.
-
Another shameless self advertisement bump. The final version is now uploaded, check it out.

That looks real good, with nice custom models, nice lighting and some quality textures. Though whenever I look at it, especially in thumbnail form, I can't help but feel like I'm looking at something dressed in dev textures. I think cleaner, simpler textures and more blue/colour variation more be nicenicenice, still looks good now though.

Hey PenE, I was wondering what texture resolution + scaling you're using in that gorgeous scene of yours, all the surfaces just look so damn high resolution it's incredibly incredible.

A concept I'm fleshing out for a insurgency map I'm going to get around to making...sometime.
-
You seem to be a master of atmosphere, looks rawesome, original too I might add.
-
There is a completely done map but its collecting dust as it was decided to hold it back until we have matching player models.
To bad because Skybex put alot of work in it

Those props are on steam by accident and we are not removing them in case any custom map is using them.
Well that's a damn shame, I'd love to see a map in that theatre.
I did notice that many of the models were missing textures, some blend textures missing the second basetexture and what not. I also noticed the model of the shattered dome from Šibenik which was damaged in the Croation War of Indepence with the Serbs (I did my wikipedia research to discover just what a "sibenik" is), is that war/battle we are to expect from future releases?
Sorry for the off topicness...

I've been playing a lot of insurgency lately and just when the maps start getting a bit repitive, bam! a new map is out.
I played a few rounds on it this morning and was VERY impressed.
The gameplay is perfect and the visuals! All the lightmapping is nothing less than superb, lighting/hdr/tonemapping is perfect, details are perfect, presentation of the urban landscapeness is perfect, the draw distances/fog is perfect, unlike sinjar which has yucky yucky fog that blocks everything after 5 metres. Definitely one of the best looking maps/things in general I have yet to see on the source.\
Once the server changed maps from it everybody started feverishly typing rtv and within 2 minutes we were back on karam.
10/10 my friend.
Now I await the addition of British soldiers and Insurgency 3.0....
Also, I've been fiddling around with Insurgency in hammer, how come there are no official maps within the Croatian theatre seeing as there is plently of resources labelled as Croatia or Šibenik.

Does anybody know some good 3ds max tutorials centred around creation of props for games, the source engine in particular?
-
Yeah I restarted steam a bunch of times and reinstalled in between and even tried a reboot but no dice.
-
It won't show up on my games list, even though the "morematter" folder in the sourcemods directory and the installation seemingly worked perfectly. Any idea what's wrong? I want to play this, looks interesting.

EDIT/replacement post : I know nobody is posting here but hell, updated the bsp to beta 5 with some more optimisation and all that good stuff.
-
You could always just make your own sprite that has two suns on it and just tell the env_sun to use that.

Some screenshots of my Mos Eisley map for Star Wars: The New Era.Mos Eisley spaceport. You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.
The map will include the most important sights of Mos Eisley i.e. the Star Wars Cantina, a chrashed spaceship or the dockingbay 94:
HOLY FUCKING WOW
That lighting is incredible, I thought it was render at first and those textures!
I will tell my grandchildren about the great things you have done with source my friend.
On another note: My recently released map, dm_kowloon viewtopic.php?f=61&t=13872

Download for FINAL VERSION
: http://www.filefront.com/14189859/dm_kowloon.rar <----- I had to quickly update the bsp so it included LDR cubemaps (which i forgot due to stupidity) so download it replace the old bsp if you so wish. This is my first released map and after months of procrastination I have finally uploaded the final bsp, feels good to be able to move on without this nagging at me.
The name doesn't actually have anything to do with Kowloon, or the walled city of kowloon, the map started out as a map on the rooftops of that city but it eventually changed to what it is now, though the name stayed the same.
Admittedly there is still a few minor bugs I would like to fix, though the vmf is screwed and the compiles refuse to agreeon finishing properly, these bugs are purely aesthetic and menial anyway.
The below video is of beta 5 so see the new screens for a better representation of the current build.

These screens are from the final build and are no where near as dark as the previous ones.
