The CS2 Workshop Tools are out for a while now, but there are still many questions (at least I have a lot).
Unfortunately there is no proper documentation yet as it used to be for Source1.
Yes, there are some Youtube tutorials, but mostly about very basic things, not so much about specific questions.
Also this forum is dead atm, so I'm having trouble to get the answers I need.
Yeah, Mapcore is on Discord now, but imo it sucks. It's nice for those who want some daily conversation about mapping. But interesting questions and answers get lost quickly between trash talk, people posting their show off screenshots and whatever in one infinite topic.
So I decided to collect some Q&A here and add links to the answers.

@Deh0lise i have a 4060 and it does not take ages. For example my last map which is quite complex, was compiled in 1 hour and 55 minutes at a lightmap resolution of 4096 (final quality settings). The majority of the compile it is done by the GPU. Also i have a i7 7820x.

@Squidski Made a google form which compiles a lot of results from the community. You can see what rig have the best results in terms of compile times. I bet it can come in handy when someone is planning to upgrade their PC

Hey guys!
As a lot of you already know, I'm working on bringing CS_AGENCY into the world of bomb defusal (and I have for quite some time...). The only problem is that I've basically made a new map instead so I'm gonna rename this at a later stage. The theme is a corporate campus (think Googleplex / facebook HQ). I'll try to get art assistance to help me prettify it soon.
The map will be playtested tonight (September 8th) on the public playtesting server (10vs10)!
Everything is mockup only right now, but I thought I'd share some screens anyway and use this thread to share progress, vent about shit and get your juicy feedback.

Looks really cool! I particularly like a lot bombsite B, quite interesting height levels. Too bad there was manipulation in the workshop... but luckily looks like it is getting the attention it deserves. Really good work, keep on!

Just an update on the workshop manipulation advertising thing.
Community banned and workshop removed due to advertising betting websites. Good to see Steam Mods keeping on top of banning the right people. You should see less manipulation now.

I noticed that your map was on the #2 spot on the workshop

However, it seemed that it suddenly got spammed with Down Votes or something - possibly because of these aim maps?
Last I checked, your map had fallen down to PAGE 3 - when it had been in 2nd place on the workshop...
I don't mean to start a witch hunt, I'm just bringing this up because the same thing happened to me with my map, it was up at second place and suddenly got a bunch of downvotes and disappeared from the the first 2 pages.... although it has recovered some since then.
This guy has 4 maps all of which were posted in the last week or so starting June 30th - every single one - except the most recent one, is filled with Ads for Crate Gambling Sites....
Don't mean to start a which hunt but I just wanted to bring this to your attention, and share with others because I hope that Valve will do something about it. I've seen that same thing happen to other maps posted this week, it's a joke - it shouldn't be that easy for people to control the workshop....
Lol yep - That's such a huge pain - Valve need to do somehting about that

This map was a first in many ways for me: my first source engine map, my first meshes and my first textures/materials. I've made a ton of mistakes, but I learnt from every single one of them (I'd like to think). It honestly wouldn't have been possible without this great community, so thanks everyone for commenting, liking and PM:ing. Every last bit of motivational boost counts.

Hey Mapcore!
This is an open source vmt editor that aims to improve the tedious experience of editing text files with an easy to use UI and fast workflow.
Dima Butemann did most of the heavy lifting involving the programming while I took care of the UI and bothered him about updating it.
It has texture previews, can convert jpgs, pngs or tgas to vtfs (and move them to proper directories), verify vmts, features a batch vmt creation and has support for (most of) new parameters introduced in Nuke CS:GO update.

Sup guys, I've been working on a new level for an experimental game mode in the Unreal Tournament alpha, only this time I decided to record myself working on it, I've produced a commentary style video of it's development, every session was fully captured, so you can make fun of all my mistakes It's sped up 5x, because in the end it was about 30 hours of work, I feel that speed works quite well so you can somewhat understand what is going on with the addition of commentary. So far I've added commentary for 5 parts, I'll crack on with the other parts very soon and link them in this post.
I've only seen a few level designers doing something like this, @Castle produced some cool time-lapse style videos, I've seen plenty of artists producing similar videos, but rarely something focused on design, so this is a bit of new territory, at least for me. Hope this is useful for aspiring level designers out there!
