  1. Honk if u like deagles! Workship link: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=231296476 Tweaking holographic settings is a pain in the bum. I think it's gonna be one of those things where its best to know how it all works in your head before you even make it.
  2. BALLS. Can anyone help me with these compression artefacts? I'm using VTF edit, can't find the settings to fix this. edit: nevermind, fixed! ABGR8888 is the uncompressed format. So here they are: I might add more high frequency detail before I submit.

  4. aha ha, Can we make this into a traditional painting thread? Personally I've always wanted to give watercolours a try after seeing some fantastic watercolour illustrations, but digital painting is already a daunting enough prospect. I wonder how well alot of digital painting tuts would apply to watercolours.
  5. I started a late entry to the nightwatch mapping challenge, because it looked like fun! 1 Days work in and I've done just less than a 3rd of the map. Probably won't finish it! Might be really dark screenies come to think of it...
  6. I only played crates and nocturnal, so that's all I can speak for gameplay wise. Crates was great, all the areas of the map seemed well balanced although I found I didn't spent much time in the upper floor of the brick building. looked nice and played nice. I loved that the snipers tower had a not too hard to reach ladder up to it with a shotgun at the bottom to counter snipers. Nocturnal was so wierdly scaled for a DM map. You could spawn on a crate and loose health falling off it. Having to use ladders to move up what was a very vertical map was a pain also, you become a sitting duck for whoever has the gauss gun or that snipers perch up top. This said, I did feel like the map had a kind of asymetrical flow that actually worked... but this might have been because I moved up stories by respawning there. Anyway I'm gonna vote on looks cause I didn't play all the levels

  8. I missed this challenge being away for the weekend working, but I started last night because it sounds fun - If I get a whiteboxxed map or more done by this evening would it be cool to stick it in the rotation? 1 week late to a 72 hour mapping party
  9. WIP texture. Nearly done with the diffuse, but I'm not sure about the lamp at the top. Theres no real specular map on it yet. Oh and in game each variation won't be quite so close to each other.
  10. looking very nice! A skatepark theme is the perfect excuse for a deathmatch layout!
  11. Definatly, that looks fantastic! If I where you I would be careful what you put in those rooms - you dont know furnishings might impede your escape from the zombie hoard just yet... but you look like you have it covered

  15. looks like it needs custom materials and some more HDR. plus the music would have been a massive change to the atmosphere.

  18. Yeah, I would say that even if you didnt make the application, this is still something for the CV, you said how much you learned from it, and again, this is VALVE

  22. Here's the first few renders of my entry. the wireframe is kind of messy, had to cut alot of corners to fit in the tris! 350 is a right mission :roll: Will get on texturing this tonight.
