I've only seen the artist vid so far.
EDIT: sorry, repost

good find, I wish I caught that when it aired.

In Virginia a 12 year old is able to buy a gun.
That's totally not true.
it's 21 for a handgun, 18 for long guns.
In addition you can only purchase one firearm every 30 days and are subject to a background check on the spot and are required to show 3 forms of ID.
There's tons of other rules and regs, but those are the basics.
Many states have tighter regulations.
As an aside though, this guy was a psycho and was going to take as many people with him as he could no matter what. If it wasn't guns it would be a car, or a knife, or anything. Not really the point of the issue IMO.

I like it. Reminds me a lot of ICO/Collossus.

wtf is that flying duck
You never played duckhunt?

Where's HL2 EP1? I remember they announced that it sold very well.
Valve is a privately held company I believe, so they aren't obligated to reveal stuff like that. Plus these are probably all sales from retail and do not contain any copies sold from digital distribution.
-
Bought it? It hasn't even been released yet, lol.
I've heard from many people that had the beta/test edition that it was pretty solid reliability-wise.

Looks good

What's the poly count on it and what do you plan using it for?
I'm not much of a modeler so the only suggestion I could make would maybe to add the slat/cage armor? But looking at your current poly-count it would probably make it skyrocket, so maybe not.

The grunts in HL1 were fictional hazardous environment marines (hence the gas masks) they wore urban cam obecause your not going to find too much radiation in the woods.
I was only suggesting this as the USMC has never officially fielded an urban camouflage pattern, only desert and woodland.
Also, most existing NBC gear in the field is still using the woodland scheme.
I made this for reference:

and here's a pic of a marine in nbc gear:

I doubt you are aiming to be 100% realistic, but I thought it may help somehow.

I would use a different camo scheme. The grunts in HL1 were supposedly marines. I would use the woodland camo pattern or the current digi ones.

I don't believe for a second that's your first map, but it's very decently made.
Partly true, technically my second... but I never even bothered compiling it... it was total crap. I tried to recreate the place I am currently living at, it was pretty much just a crash course in hammer. I learned a lot, but the map itself wasn't pretty nor did it have any play value. The only thing I really like is the front with the red / yellow brick pillars >_> The other parts and especially the back look boring. Not bad though for a first timer Razz
Use single light entity to illuminate the models (if you have any) for the spotlights and a little bit around it. Oh and make the awning / mini-roof part a proper awning / mini-roof part (it's just a cut off triangle now, isn't it?).
Yeah the awning is just a cut off triangle. I added a few pillars do the remaining edges, I initially wanted to make it look like the garage and rear section was added on and not part of the original structure, but there was no good way to get the point across. Thanks for the tip.
I also tried the red bricks on the interior, but I need to mess around with it a bit more to get it to where I like it.
I still have a LOT to learn about lighting.
Nice map name Wink Looks like a very good start!Ha! Yeah, after the SDK update my filepaths got messed up and I had to create a new file, and I was kinda frustrated at the time
Thanks for the comments so far.

I've been lurking this forum for awhile and I figured it was finally time to post.
This is my first map... so go easy.
Textures still need work and lighting needs ton.
I'm still working on some custom models for the inside as soon as I learn how to UV map.
This is going to be part of a larger scene once I'm done... like a townscape sort've.
My goal was to utilize as many textures and models that I could that were already done, so every thing is pretty rustic... but that is what I was originally aiming for.
I have a bunch of plans for this and I could go on forever on what I plan to do, but I'll just leave it at that.

Comments and Critiques welcome.

The fanboys wouldn't ever be satisfied regardless. I just don't understand their logic. Bethesda is there to make money and noone is going to buy an isometric turn based strategy game.
Frankly, I'm happy as hell to hear that the franchise was bought because interplay certainly wasn't going to ever be in the position to make it. First person combat is where it is at right now and it is a no-brainer that is the direction they should go in. I have high hopes for this game, but at the same time I will be prepared to see some of the flaws from oblivion, but hopefully not.
I just don't get fanboyism.
I can't stand reading those boards
