  1. While I think fallout would be a great franchise for an mmo, I have little faith in Herve Caen to do anything worthwhile. The guy ruined Interplay in the first place. I just think he is trying to hold on to what he has and make some cash before the whole thing goes under. He is a terrible business man and not that great a developer, just look at his track record.

I would be more confident with the development in someone else's hands and I'm glad Bethesda scooped up the rights for us. I would hope that boyarsky, cain and anderson get involved in the franchise in some manner in the future.

  2. Thanks for the crits, they were very helpful. I'm going to scrap the vacancy part (or find someplace else to put it) and add something neat on the top right corner of the top sign. Then redo the UV.

I know the UV had some repetition problems, that was just laziness, but i'll fix it this time around.

  3. Everything is run on redundant systems, a lot like an airplane but even moreso. If something fails there are 4+ backups.

Nuclear power is one of the safest alternatives out there. There has been so much hysteria and misinformation in the past and therefore it has gotten a bad rap. It deserves alot more credit than it has been given in terms of safety and effectiveness.

And back on the topic of depleted uranium. The toxicity is in no way related to its radioactivity, rather the fact that it is just a heavy metal ala lead.

  4. You can't have a meltdown without the fuel rods hitting critical mass, something that modern day reactors are not very likely to ever see. Not to mention that's not an issue when you are storing depleted fuel rods. The only danger in storing the waste material is if someone was to break in and steal some and then make a dirty bomb out of it, which in the end would cause more hysteria than environmental damage. Which is why storing it in one big place is safer.

Reactors are designed differently now than they were in the chernobyl days, it was a flawed design to begin with.

    I think we are getting off-topic :-D

  5. I disagree. Uranium is found in virtually every rock on earth. It's pretty abundant and you would be surprised at how much energy you can extract from a small amount of enriched ore.

Also, depleted uranium is not THAT dangerous unless it you inhale dust when it is incenerated/exploded/etc. Not trying to underplay its' toxicity but it is nowhere as dangerous as u235.

I do admit that storing it could be dangerous, but as long as there is a good plan and strategy at containing it I still think it is the best option we have at making clean power en masse at this point. I do agree that it is not an ultimate solution but I think it is the correct stepping stone.

In the US they are building a pretty huge facility inside of a mountain in the middle of a desert, should be pretty secure, but who knows.

Solar technology I hope will be the future, but the technology still just isn't there. We still aren't to the point where the efficiency is there and the cost per watt is way too high.

  6. We rate our gass differently. I'm not sure exactly how it is calculated but our 87 octane here is equivelent to your 92 RON.

Gas stations usually carry 87, 89, and 93. They are usually sold in 10c increments. Some places carry 100.

My car only takes 93+, it sucks... but in the end its probably only about $3 more for a full tank.

  7. Gas is really the only thing that is noticeable right now, but food prices and other stuff are starting to go up a little.

IMO I think the dollar was way overvalued anyway. This may be actually helpful to us since more people are able to buy good from the US and maybe it can jumpstart some more manufacturing jobs.

edit: When I first got my drivers license gas was under $1 per gallon.

  8. I always wonder what the workflow is like in the SDK versus what they really use at Valve. Surely it can't be as backasswards. It took me half a day to figure out how to compile a model, and that's only because we have 3rd party tools (thank god for wunderboy)

After ep3 is over they need to just build something completely new from the ground-up, because Source is going to be ancient by then.

  9. I also have trouble with the jumping. It seems like half the time I just can't even jump. On el paso, even trying to jump on a porch that is only like 10 inches tall requires you sit there and try 3 or 4 times before you can actually jump up there. It's just really annoying and gets me killed all the time because I get stuck trying to jump up something that I could just as easily should be able to walk over.

  10. Remington 1100?

My only suggestion is to add the cocking lever and maybe add some more polys to the bevel on the stock. However, that might not be necessary if it isn't going to be used as a world model.

    Keep it up.

Edit: you can also extend the handguard furniture further in the rear to where it is flush with the receiver, it will save you some polys too.
