Yeah these both look amazing. I'll definitely vote for FOF on Steam if it's still on greenlight. Great work!

Cheers Sentura. Think next time I'll use a few different brushes. Got a bit carried away with the one brush and it gave the image a nasty blur effect. Ok as a thumbnail though!

Really like all the different shapes and colours you get to gel together. Do you mostly free paint everything or use shape tools? I haven't really experimented with them yet so not sure what you can achieve. The perspective on the far left building and on the right side wall looks a bit extreme but other than that it feels solid!

Tried to paint a scene with a bit more substance. Used a couple of references but should've planned the scene a bit better. Was still fun to mess around with the colours and trying to paint different materials.

Ah brilliant! Watched some of this guy's videos last night and the detail of his paintings is incredible. Inspiring but at the same time depressing how someone can be that good. I watched a few of Feng's vids lately and really like how he does his stuff. This guy's style seems very different from what I've seen but amazing still. The old brushes I've been using have a couple of scaffolding style ones in there that look like stacked triangles. They're good for painting radio towers and such. I think they were from you? Maybe Peris though have you got a new collection you wouldn't mind sharing? I'm still at a very much experimental stage when it comes to finding what brushes work well for what and have mainly just been painting with a flat brush which gives the effect of paint spread with a knife.

Thanks Tschoppo! Yeah the desert pic was just a doodle really. I started experimenting with how o use the flat brushes and just kinda threw some colours together and decided it would be a desert. Composition wise I think it's a bit crappy. The blue 'fog' was meant to be more of a heat haze in the distance but guess it didn't come across right I will try some more detailed images when I'm a little happier throwing the basic forms and colours around for sure. Hopefully will have some time this weekend to experiment a little more and will try and gather some refs as you mention. Loving the colours you've got going in your piece. I need to experiment with getting colours into a scene fairly early on before I get bogged down in greyscale. Your character feels a bit disjointed from the scene to me, but not sure how you could work him in more being with the contrast of him against the snow.

Love that warehouse piece. The colours are spot on but was also initially puzzled by the sloped wall section I've been trying to get into a bit of digi painting recently and am actually using some of your brushes you posted ages back! Starting to get the kind of effects I'm after though. Would really appreciate any feedback you have Minos. If you're interested I posted a couple in the totally random concept thread the other day.

Ok, next one! Took a bit longer on this but for the moment am calling it done.

Another little practice paint. Spent about 45 mins on this probably.

Thanks for the replies. I've watched through Feng's fantasy landscape vid, albeit with no sound as I'm currently at work, but it was amazing to see the complete process. Already picked up on a couple of things that I should be doing and seeing how he lays some base colours and then colour picks from them and adjusts accordingly. That's my issue at the moment and find it difficult picking accompanying colours when trying to show highlights and shadows on an object, so hopefully colour picking is the solution! Love the robot btw Tschoppo!

heh, Reading is the place to be. I'm just going about it my own way currently but I'm gonna watch a few tutorials to see if I can get some better ideas how to use each brush. Setting every colour value manually sounds a bit counter-intuitive, but as you say, whatever works best for you. I'll check this artist out that you mention. Cheers BD!

Quick sketch from a ref photo. When I say quick, it still took an hour or so. Trying to get used to painting workflow and find that I go over and over the same areas. Are there any particular brushes that are best suited? Could do with something to add a bit of texture too. Feedback is welcome as always!
-
What really breaks the atmosphere for me is the amount of misaligned textures where they meet at corners. Especially with the brick ones which may be hard to line up I'm sure but perhaps you could use some kind of vertical corner trim to negate the need for 2 brick walls to touch. Also on the archway there are the same textures scaled to different sizes which again don't meet up with one another. If you sort the textures, maybe add a little up-lighting to bring a bit more drama life to some of the surfaces.. and try some thicker different coloured trims around things on the floor to break up the large surface and add some variety. Looks like a good base for map but needs some additional tidying up. Good job so far!

The scene is really coming together PogoP. In the last few shots it's starting to remind me of diddy kong racing or banjo kazooie on the n64 colour-wise.. which is awesome btw Maybe not quite so colourful.. but getting there!
