Hi folks,
first off: im not that experienced with the source engine, and its all right to call me a noob
well, im working on a mod and want to make the animations to the player. i have done bone animation myself for movie projects in 3DSmax, so the animations is not a big deal. So i thought, why not use the animation SMD's inside the "...username\sourcesdk_content\cstrike\modelsrc\animation" folder, import them into max, reanimate them (but still keep the same frames) export them back into the folder, (without changing the name) then use the existing QC file to compile all the files to the .mdl file named "cs_player_shared", inside the GFC file "Counter-Strike source shared".
When that was done i tried to start the game and load some bots, and some of them actually had the new animation. the rest was just sliding in "reference-position" over the floor, and after 20 seconds of game time the game crashed with an error.
So since that is not a possible way to make these animation, how do you then make new animations for the player?
sorry for the long thread and please be kind to me since im only working with this for 2 weeks now. (i have searched through the Valve developers site and there was nothing about player animation)
