  1. Isn't tlou2 story about vengeance? How can that ever be innovative? One thing is for certain... Last of Us 1 was one of my favourit games from the last generation. I've beat it twice on the PS3, and again on the PS4 when the remaster came out. Spent dozens of hours on it's multiplayer too, it was incredibly fresh and slower paced, the whole round felt like when in CS you're the only T alive with the bomb and there's a bunch CT's lurking somewhere waiting to fuck you up. So the whole package of this game was really good. The story was a little bit too blatantly close to Children of Men, but it was really well paced and I'm sure I've said it here in this forum a few times but that ending stayed in my mind for days if not weeks. One day I'd say to myself "nah... I would never make that decision", and in the other I'd say "but... I probably would though." For this sequel though, I don't feel like playing it at all, from the trailers and footage I've seen it's really depressing, not the "STALKER" movie kind of depressive that gets under your skin, just the needlessly violent and gory depressive, where characters you know and love get murdered for shock value. I just... with the pandemic and everything that's going on in the world right now, really don't feel like going 30 straight hours feeling like shit.
  2. I hear ya... I just find myself saying "that's what she said" all the time. True story.
  3. Damn, I love when he said that the game actually makes you use your eyes for guidance. Love that they use the wind to guide you as well. Like, I love R* open world games as much as the next man, but I hate that I have to constantly look at the small square with a minimap in the corner of my screen for the vast majority of the play time.
  4. I tottaly feel like playing this again. Wish I had a HDR monitor.
  5. Another open world... sigh... But, it does look fairly enticing. They've been working and polishing this for years, and from the brief videos I've watched it does look fun to play. Plus, it's getting reviewed very well by reviewers I personally trust. I'll probably pick this up once I finish Fallout 1 (yeah, you read that right)
  6. That does look good, but damn that's a bullshot if I've ever seen one lol
  7. Tried to play a couple hours of this, and the city looks extraordinary, great tech with some very decent lighting. Everything else is very meh tho.... one of the most boring games I've played in a long time. Lol
  8. Good reminder to pick this up.
  9. Same, kinda grew up with the bbbrrrruuuuumm brrruuummmmm sounds on the background. The older guys in my town, if they weren't watching football, they'd be watching F1. So I kinda absorbed it by osmosis. I heard it kind of died down these last few years though? Something about too many regulations? Regardless, seems like F1 cars are hybrid now, which is fucking dope.
  10. I agree, wish they went back to the roots of the franchise. Make a semi linear campaign, with a few wide open areas? Fuck yeah, that'd be dope.

    Corona Virus

I see a lot of people celebrating the fact that he got infected, which I think is repulsive. I don't wish harm on anyone, not even my "enemies". But such are the times that we live in, where being a bad person is somehow a good answer towards other evils. Two wrongs don't make a right. Also, he's far from being the first nation leader to get infected, this virus doesn't discriminate.

    GTA V

2002 man: Morrowind, GTA VC, Mafia, Splinter Cell, Hitman 2, Metroid Prime, Star Wars Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast (Underrated FPS Game), Warcraft 3, Medal of Honor, Spyro...... I mean, god damn! Still think 2004 was a better year in terms of game released, but jebus.

    GTA V

This here, is why I dislike a lot of modern open world games. They're way too large, there's no sense of familiarity to anything.

    GTA V

Doubt it... 5 is so great in many aspects for sure, but it didn't beat Vice City for me, it's missing a little bit of that DNA that made 3/VC/SA amazing. That said... that fucking remote controlled heli mission enraged many people. lol

    Texture Optimisation

An asset like that should be mapped with a trim sheet. You could get the same look and texel density as what you got there out of a 512.

    Texture Optimisation

Well, in the case of that model you bought, you're probably talking about a 0/1 mapped texture, and not a tilable, or a trim. I also assume it's a baked asset too, in those cases the texture (specifically the normal map) makes up for the lack of geometric detail, as it was baked down from a high poly. But yeah, 4k is pretty ridiculous. I do know character and weapon artists do author their textures in 4k, but when it ends up in the game, it gets resized to a 2k, or even 1k.
  20. He definitely meant the former. Lol

    Texture Optimisation

Yeah, you'd be surprised how much you can scale down a texture, and don't really notice much difference. And a 2k is 4 times bigger than a 1k. For final look, I'd rather have 4 1ks, and blend them in the shader/material, hiding a lot of the "low res" look, than a crisp 2k. This new gen of consoles, will bring bigger memory budget and faster streaming tech, but this for me means more texture variety, not necessarily higher res, as you can do so much with shaders too. Also, some textures (like the roughness and AO map) can be resized down even more than the color and normal, they don't all need to be the same res in parallel.
