Competition: HL2DM 1024-unit Official Entries
MrBaracuda replied to von*ferret's topic in Past Contests / Challenges
I'd like to be part of the jury, since I hate you all anyway -
Ha! Rick_D didn't believe me when I told him they had that in at some point! HA!

Another thing I like about Unreal is that you can just load up other people's maps and look at them. Back then when I bought Unreal and didn't have access to the internet, I was stuck with the very limited documentation about the UEd. My English wasn't so great as well, so I basically taught all the stuff like elevators, 3d skyboxes and how to make water myself just by browsing their maps. Took me quite some time to figure out how to do water I had the zone set up and all but I was missing the zone actor or what it's called. I didn't see it in their zone before, because it was hidden behind an underwater plant model . Good times What I also like is that you get the red outline of the brush or whatever you'll work with, instead of having to go the trial and error way hammer offers for stairwells and such.

What's "WYSIWYG"? D: I used both the UEd and Worldcraft back then. I liked UEd better for all the features and what you can do w/ the editor/engine (in-editor preview, open maps, 3d skybox, rescaling models) but ended up using Worldcraft/Hammer more because I played more HL1 than Unreal games. Another thing is that (Gold)Source is better for realistic games in my opinion and I like those better atm. Unreal has this "spongy" movement, if you know what I mean. Then again, Red Orchestra is a great game but has some of this "spongy" movement.

Okai let's see why you're a dumb ass: The first language every German learns in school is English. This is mandatory. The second language you can learn is French, Spanish, Latin and depending on the school other languages as well. Your country has a population of ~16,500,000 Germany has a population of ~82,400,000 Austria and Switzerland combined make up a total of ~15,800,000 Plus all the people living near the boarders speaking German you might get a total of ~100,000,000 See a big market there? And please, if you're German and proud, you'll be labelled a nazi in most cases. Unless you mean something else than being proud of our country. Oh and GG Texas

Hai, looks coo. I'd make the cones wider to match the size of the lamp shades. And maybe he means this area: Looks a little boring.

Ah, yes yes, I saw some guy walking on a scrap bridge but didn't know how to get there and the admins forced the cam on a person. And yes, I've played it 2 rounds (the time could be extended a little but I guess that's okai once you know where to go but maybe you should make it whoever got the most objectives when the time's over wins; I imagine with good Russian teams it can get very hard for the Axis to cap at least the last one) and, well, the Russians were all just camping around the destroyed warehouse or our spawn and I only found that one narrow past North East of the Axis spawn (near a pinetree), so the fun was restricted. There was also no spawn protection for the Axis spawn? Luckily the Russians didn't seem to notice where we spawned
-
Plus you got weird classrooms
-
Haha, your map just looks like the suck
-
I've played it once now and yea, the gameplay isn't that great. Is there only one way to get to the last point that is near the tower (the one the Russians spawn close to)? I had a hard time finding that narrow path there.

Well I haven't seen any animated avatars on MSN yet. And you're crazy in general
-
Animated pictures as an avatar in MSN? YOU ARE INSANE!
-
Indeed. I've already suggested making it the mapper's choice to chose how many ppl per class so there would be only one or two of the defilers with the green stuff on maps like tunnels.

ABOUT Gutter Runners is a first person shooter Half-Life2 modification that takes you into close action face to face with your opponent, The Rat or the Human. The stelthy Rats are trying to invade the "City of Skavo" which the Humans must defend at all costs. Gutter Runners were first thought to be a "fastmod" that I anticipated to do in a week or so, but as I modeled on, I and Nic2 (who were fast to join in) realized that we could make it much more than just one man and one rat. As we modded on we came up with new conepts and ideas and so the mod evolved. Now you can you choose between six diffrent classes, which are the Watchman, the Marksman and the Assassin for the City Watch and the Stalker, the Warlock and the Defiler for the Gutter Runners. Head over to http://gr.hl2files.com/ to check it out. It's kind of basic, but considering it's made by mainly 2 guys it's amazing. I recommend this torrent: http://freshmods.com/download.php/20/Gu ... xe.torrent Hf
